Huddersfield Giants will be aiming to do a Super League double over the Widnes Vikings when the two teams meet at Halton Stadium on Friday.

The Giants were in red-hot form when they met at the John Smith's Stadium back in April, running out comfortable 62-6 winners in front of their own fans.

Huddersfield, who dumped Leeds out of the Tetley's Challenge Cup last weekend, are seeking their first victory at Widnes since a 38-6 success in March 2004.

Warrington loanee Brad Dwyer is recalled by Giants head coach Paul Anderson after being ineligible for the Super League game against Wolves and the triumph over the Rhinos.

Joe Wardle is missing for Huddersfield as he serves the first of his two-game ban for punching Leeds' Carl Ablett, while Michael Lawrence (groin) is sidelined.

"The cup win over Leeds again shows we can beat the best," Anderson told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner. "But our big failing is that we're not doing it on a regular basis.

"At the moment we seem to be able to be good for three, four, five games and then let our standards drop.

"We've seen that against Warrington (twice), Bradford and Salford. Fortunately, on each occasion, we've been able to find a positive reaction. But it still remains a general trend that has to stop, and stop now.

Standards

"That's why I don't want to see us go to Widnes and not maintain the standard we showed against Leeds. I'll be extremely disappointed if that's the case."

Widnes will be without Gareth Hock as the on-loan Wigan Warrior serves the first of a four-game ban for making contact with the referee in last weekend's Challenge Cup win over Workington Town.

Vikings boss Denis Betts accepts Huddersfield, who are second in the table, will be the favourites for the points following their impressive cup success over the champions.

"Friday's opponents Huddersfield will come here full of confidence," said Betts. "Their game with Leeds last weekend was fantastic, and Paul Anderson will be extremely proud of his players, as I am of mine.

"After a couple of games on the road, it's certainly nice to be back at home. We did a lot of good things against both St. Helens and Workington and now we're back at the Stobart Stadium, with our fantastic support behind us we need to show some consistency in our performances."

Widnes Vikings: Allen, K. Brown, Clarke, Craven, Dean, Flynn, Gore, Joseph, Kavanagh, Lawton, Leuluai, Marsh, Mellor, O'Carroll, Owens, Phelps, Pickersgill, Winterstein, White.

Huddersfield Giants: Grix, Cudjoe, McGillvary, Brough, Robinson, Crabtree, Lunt, Kopczak, Ferres, Faiumu, Patrick, Chan, Ta'ai, Murphy, Cording, Ferguson, Mullally, Dawson, Dwyer.
