Elford: Back in Giants squad
Huddersfield could be bolstered by the return of two of their injured players for Saturday's Super League clash with Wakefield.
Experienced Australian backs Shane Elford and Rod Jensen have been missing in recent weeks but both have been included in coach Jon Sharp's initial squad.
The Giants are still without David Hodgson, Martin Aspinwall and Stephen Wild, so the return of their Australian duo would be a welcome boost.
"Looking at Elford and looking at Jensen they are both looking much better than they were last week and I'm hopeful for both of them being back and confident one will be back, at least," Sharp said.
Wakefield will be without Adam Watene for their trip to the Galpharm Stadium.
The powerful prop has been given permission to travel to New Zealand following a family bereavement.
He will be one of 11 absentees for the Wildcats with full-back Matt Blaymire and centre Kevin Henderson joining an horrendous injury list.
Coach John Kear has drafted in youngsters Kyle Bibb, Kyle Wood, Jay Pitts and Josh Griffin who have one substitute Super League appearance between them.
If academy player Griffin makes his debut, he will be up against older brother
Darrell, the former Wakefield prop who is now at Huddersfield.
Huddersfield squad: Thorman, Elford, Whaturia, Brown, Robinson, Crabtree, Gatis, Skandalis, Lolesi, Raleigh, Jackson, Mason, Snitch, Griffin, Hudson, Cudjoe, Lawrence, Jensen, Kirmond.
Wakefield squad: Martin, Atkins, Rooney, Brough, Sculthorpe, MacGillivray, Obst , Bibey, Wilkes, Gleeson, Leo-Latu, Grix, Golden, Moore, Murphy, Bibb, Wood, Pitts, Griffin.
