Hull welcome back Matt Sing and Richard Whiting for Sunday's Millennium Magic derby against Hull KR.
However, the Black and Whites will be without Motu Tony, who faces a 'substantial spell' on the sidelines after suffering knee ligament damage.
Tony, whose likely absence is expected to stretch to at least three months, will be replaced in the full-back role by Todd Byrne.
Sing will return on the right wing for only his fifth appearance of an injury-interrupted campaign.
The former Australia international is joined in the squad by 23-year-old Whiting, who is available for selection for the first time this season.
The utility player has been missing since breaking his arm in Paul King's testimonial match against Huddersfield.
Coach Peter Sharp rates Whiting a 'serious contender' for a place in the 17-man squad at the Millennium Stadium.
Rivals Rovers have included Chris Chester and Chev Walker in their 19-man squad for the trip to Cardiff.
Chester has missed the last 10 games with a calf injury, while Walker has recovered from the wrist injury that forced him to miss the last three games.
However, coach Justin Morgan will not gamble on the fitness of prop Makali Aizue, who has been omitted from the squad.
"Makali's calf is still hurting and he's not quite back to being 100 per cent," Morgan told the Hull Daily Mail.
"He needs another week, so he may be back for next week's game against Huddersfield. It's disappointing for Makali, but it's good to have Chris and Chev back.
"They are both big-time players with big-game experience and their return is a massive boost for us."
