Hull hooker Aaron Heremaia will be unable to make his competitive debut in Sunday's Super League opener against Warrington at the KC Stadium due to a kneck injury.

The former New Zealand Warrior saw a specialist this week after picking up the injury in the pre-season friendly against Hull KR. He does not require surgery but a bulging disc will see him ruled out for about a month.

The Airlie Birds' other new signings Brett Seymour, Wade McKinnon, Tony Martin, Andy Lynch, Eamon O'Carroll and Martin Aspinwall are all set to make their debuts.

Australian Peter Gentle will be taking charge of the Black and Whites for the first time in a league match after taking over the reins from Richard Agar.

Warrington scrum-half Richie Myler will line up alongside his former Salford team-mate Stefan Ratchford after making a quick recovery from a dislocated elbow.

But the Wolves will begin the season without full-back Brett Hodgson, stand-off Lee Briers and winger Joel Monaghan.

New signings Trent Waterhouse and Chris Hill are set to make their competitive debuts for last year's regular season table-toppers.

Hull squad: Aspinwall, T. Briscoe, Horne, Houghton, Lynch, Manu, Martin, McKinnon, Moa, Nicklas, O'Carroll, O'Meley, Seymour, Sharp, Tickle, Turner, Westerman, Whiting, Yeaman.

Warrington squad: Atkin, C. Bridge, Carvell, Cooper, Evans, Grix, Harrison, Higham, Hill, McCarthy, M. Monaghan, Morley, Myler, Ratchford, Riley, Waterhouse, Westwood, Williams, Wood.
