Widnes Vikings hope to get back to winning ways on Good Friday as they face another tough task against local rivals Warrington Wolves at the Stobart Stadium.

The Vikings have suffered back-to-back defeats in their last two games against Super League high-fliers Catalans Dragons and Wigan Warriors in the last two weeks.

Denis Betts' men now face their third game against one of the league's top four on the bounce, but he is hoping they improve on the form that saw them out scored by an aggregate of 108-18 in those last two encounters.

And it gets no easier for Widnes as they third-placed Wigan before an Easter Monday clash with Super League leaders Huddersfield.

Widnes do have some cause for hope with the return of England forward Gareth Hock to Betts' squad after he missed the last two defeats due to suspension and being ineligible to face parent club Wigan.

Prop Steve Pickersgill is in the squad to face his former club, as is Jon Clarke, as Widnes start what should be the most challenging Easter programme possible.

Warrington have re-called centre Rhys Evans in place of the rested Chris Bridge while back-row forward Ben Harrison is set to make his return after missing the last two months with a hernia problem.

The Wolves have responded well to back-to-back defeats and will be looking for a third straight win after thumping Salford and league leaders Huddersfield.

Widnes squad: Ah Van, Allen, Briscoe, Cahill, Clarke, Cross, Dean, Flynn, Gerrard, Hanbury, Hock, Isa, Joseph, Leuluai, Mellor, O'Carroll, Pickersgill, White, Winterstein.

Warrington squad: Atkins, Carvell, Cooper, Currie, Evans, Grix, B.Harrison, Higham, Hill, B.Hodgson, J.Monaghan, M.Monaghan, Myler, O'Brien, Ratchford, Riley, Waterhouse, Westwood, P.Wood
