Widnes Vikings could climb into fourth in the Super League table with victory over Wakefield Wildcats in Friday's meeting.

Widnes would need to better Wigan's result at Hull FC in order to climb a spot from their current fifth position in the standings.

Both teams come into the Select Security Stadium clash on the back of victories over Hull clubs as Widnes toppled Hull KR last time out while the Wildcats overcame a 16-point deficit against Hull FC.

The Vikings have somewhat of a score to settle against Richard Agar's men having lost both home and away to their West Yorkshire counterparts in 2013.

Widnes are set to switch Jack Owens from wing to full-back in the absence of Rhys Hanbury, while centre Declan Hulme is back in contention after recovering from injury.

Veteran recalled

Wakefield coach Richard Agar has recalled veteran prop Andy Raleigh, who has recovered from a wrist injury, in the only change to the side that won at Hull.

Wildcats' Danny Washbook was pleased with the team's win against Hull FC, although he knows they will need to improve if they are to get anything from their trip to Widnes.

"We scored some good tries Sunday and have the skill on attack but we've shown a lot more desire in defence recently too," Washbrook told the Yorkshire Post.

"We need to take some positives from the fact Hull didn't break us on the edge, it was just the odd missed tackle here and there. It wasn't a 16-0 sort of game and we knew we could fight back but we've to improve at Widnes."

Widnes Vikings: Allen, Brown, Clough, Clarke, Craven, Dean, Flynn, Gerrard, Hulme, Isa, Johnson, Kavanagh, Lawton, Leuluai, Marsh, Owens, Phelps, Tickle, White.

Wakefield Wildcats: Mathers, Fairbank, Riley, Walshaw, Sykes, Godinet, Anderson, McShane, Raleigh, Kirmond, Washbrook, Ryan, Annakin, Smith, Moore, Siejka, Sammut, Scruton, Molloy.
