Lowes looking forward

Wolves boss hoping for more from his side after Bulls win.

Warrington coach James Lowes saw his side come from behind to beat Bradford on Friday but was far from pleased and demanded some improvement.

The Bulls led 24-12 at one stage at the Halliwell Jones but the Wolves came back in front of their home fans and eventually emerged with a 32-38 win.

Lowes enjoyed a fifth win in six games since taking over from Paul Cullen, but overall the performance was still not good enough for him.

The former Bulls hooker wants his side to tighten up and hopes that if they do they can be a real force for the rest of the season.

"It's always pleasing to get a result but I think once we get it right, we will certainly be a force for the rest of the year," said Lowes.

"I don't want the lads to stop playing but I want them to smarten up and realise when the right time to play is and the right time not to play is."

Good side

"Generally, we have got a few things to work on but we scraped by and got a win today against a decent team.

"We need to do things a little better but great character and great effort."

Lowes was a Bulls hero in his playing days but insisted that he gained no extra satisfaction from beating his old side.

"I had a great seven years at Bradford and am good friends with a lot of people behind the scenes," he added.

"A lot of the players and the coach but it doesn't make it any more special.

"We just got a couple more points, which is a step in the right direction."

Bulls fury

Bradford coach Steve McNamara was again annoyed from some decisions made by officials, including David Solomona's yellow card for a late tackle on Lee Briers.

Touch judge James Child was the target for McNamara's criticism and it was hard to take after watching his side get two yellows and a sending off last week.

"I thought it was a really poor decision. I didn't see what he saw and that's two weeks in a row that official has done it to us," McNamara said.

"I think he was wrong on both occasions.

"I am pleased with the effort and commitment of the players, they really put the effort in, but some schoolboy errors really got us.

"The squad is down in numbers at this time but I thought they held their hands up admirably and we'll come back and fight again next week."
