Kear: blasted 'terrible' display
It came out of the blue. It was very disappointing, very inept. Perhaps the players believed their own publicity a little too much.

Quotes of the week
Wakefield Wildcats coach John Kear was furious with his side after they were thrashed 52-0 at home by Huddersfield Giants.
The Wildcats, who started the season with three straight wins, conceded 10 tries prompting a shocked Kear to label the performance "inept".
"It was a terrible performance," he said. "After the first 30 seconds you could sense something was not right. Our energy levels looked down.
"It came out of the blue. It was very disappointing, very inept. Perhaps the players believed their own publicity a little too much.
"Huddersfield were very slick, very focused and very intense - everything we didn't do they did, and they did it very well."
Huddersfield coach Nathan Brown was thrilled with the victory, which moves the Giants up to third in the table, but also had some sympathy for his counterpart.
"It was a good result," said Brown. "I get a lot of satisfaction for the players but I feel for Keary too.
"As a coach, as much as you love having a good win, I've been on the other side of a 50-nil and you do feel for the other coach."
Giants centre Paul Whatuira's man-of-the-match display came four months after he was arrested and sent to a secure unit following an alleged street attack.
Brown believes the former New Zealand international centre is reaping the benefits of his rehabilitation from his mental health problems.
"He's going well is Fats," said Brown. "I think we're utilising him much better this year than we were last year.
"The fact that he's learned to deal with his well-documented problems is obviously helping his game as well.
"For us to be a successful team, Paul Whatuira playing well is important to us and we're really happy with how he's playing."

Or thin and thinner in our case at Wakefield. I Did support for 30 years home and away as I said. Then the realisation came about that these are just journeymen who play when they feel like it; certainly too many of the ones who sign for us do, as once again evidenced on Saturday. Hard working peole pais good money to see a game and a team where one said clearly didn't want to be there. The reasons for that we can only speculate at, but it looked very odd on the TV to me.

Cas Fan Great result!! Just glad it wasn't us for a change. Well done to Huddersfield but I think it is a one off from Wakie - they have some class players. Huddersfield for the top 5? By the looks of things this season they will be.

it has been a very long time since I was so embarrassed to be a Wildcats fan, not only embarrassed but furious, a lot of Wakey fans pay good money to come and watch our team, but it makes you wonder why we do it when you have to watch such a shambolic and woefully inept performance as we did on Saturday night, the whole team looked like they had somewhere else they¿d rather be and that they¿d been forced to play against there will. It¿s just the same old wakey though, as a fan you get your hopes built up that we are finally becoming a consistent team that will compete with the better teams in super league just to have all that optimism crushed when you have to watch them play like a pack of armatures. It worries me that we will struggle to fill a new stadium because if the team keep doing this to us every year not only do they have no chance of encouraging new fans to come and watch us, they will start losing there established fan base, because I for one am becoming a bit fed up of spending my hard earned money to come and watch rubbish in a wakey shirt and coming to the ground not knowing which team will turn up. Do these players understand that its us fans that suffer when they cant be bothered and not only that it¿s us fans that pay the wages that at times these player just don¿t deserve. Think the team needs to take a long hard look at themselves and I think then they would realise us fan deserve better.

For years I followed Wakefield. Home and away I never missed a game from aged 7 to 37. At a very low point, after a number of 'inept' performances from players who looked like they didn't care, I decided I didn't care enough to keep subjecting myself to disaapointment week in and week out. Just when I am starting to believe we may have a serious club with a serious team, as on a number of previous occasions, they blow up and are 'inept' once more. To the players who once again let us down and embarrassed us; tell me why I should come back to take more of this?
