Robinson slams 'disgusting' Dragons
Catalan coach criticises lack of effort from his players
It's disgusting and was disgusting to watch. It can't be acceptable for any team to play like that and especially not at the Dragons. It was embarrassing and there was a lack of effort. You can't play like that and it's unacceptable to play that way in Super League.
Quotes of the week
Catalan Dragons coach Trent Robinson was left fuming by his side's capitulation as they crashed to a 34-30 defeat at the hands of Salford.
The Dragons led 20-0 in the first half and at one stage were playing against 11 men as the Reds had Daniel Holdsworth and Vinnie Anderson both in the sin-bin at the same time for dissent.
A fuming Robinson blasted: "It's disgusting and was disgusting to watch. It can't be acceptable for any team to play like that and especially not the Dragons.
"It was embarrassing and there was a lack of effort. You can't play like that and it's unacceptable to play that way in Super League.
"There are a lot of players in that dressing room tonight that we can't accept for them to play like that.
"I think that has been coming for a little while, we have been playing average footy for a while but it's a bit of a shock."
A delighted Salford coach Phil Veivers was happy to see his side get their rewards and praised their character after initiating their comeback while two men down.
"I'm over the moon we got two points out of that game and thought we played some really attractive footy tonight," he said.
"The team showed a massive amount of character today and the bonus for us was when we were down to 11 men for seven minutes in that second half Catalan only had the ball once in the seven minutes.
"So we had all the ball and scored two tries when we down to 11 men and the players are saying let's play less men next week."
The Salford boss was also pleased to see his team finally getting the results their performances deserve after just falling short on numerous occasions this season.
"Five weeks prior to us getting these last two results there was every possibility we could have had another four results," he said.
"We have been playing some good footy but just coming up short, but now we have come up with a couple of good scalps which helps the confidence in the team.
"The lads are working hard for each other as they proved when down to 11 men and they got their rewards.
"We had 11 men out there who had to dig deep and the middle of the park stood up for us pretty well."Super League. Click here to bet.
