St Helens interim coach Mike Rush paid tribute to his side's improved performance after they crushed injury-hit Bradford Bulls 54-0.

He said: "We were good and owed it to ourselves to attack better than last week at Hull.

"Defensively we aimed up again which is good for us after taking a fair bit of criticism a few weeks ago.

"We set out with a big pack to steamroll them and it worked.

Rush also saluted youngster Josh Jones after his hat-trick of tries. "Josh is a really good prospect and I think he still gets a fiver off his mum if he scores.

"Hopefully he will keep his feet on the floor and we are lucky in having such a good production line of youngsters."

Bradford were without 11 players and backed up after Monday's win over Castleford but boss Mick Potter refused to use the short turn-around as an excuse.

"I don't want to discredit St Helens because they were outstanding," said Potter.

"We weren't up to it and were unable to withstand the pressure. Saints did not want to give away field position and had an excellent kicking game.

"The guys are disappointed because they know they didn't perform well and need to do better.

"I know the players can do better than they did tonight. We have a fortnight's break but could do with a four-week break to get some of our injured players back."
