Catalan coach Trent Robinson praised his side's defence after they restricted Wakefield to just 10 points in a 34-10 victory in Perpignan.
Robinson said: "I've been impressed by the way that Wakefield have been playing, they've played some really good attacking footy.
"In the last five or six games they've scored an average of 30 points so we knew it was going to be a difficult game as far as defence was concerned.
"I'm very pleased that for the second week running we have kept a team down to 10 points."
Catalan had battled to win 13-10 away to Hull KR last week but the challenge against Wakefield was different because of the heat.
Robinson added: "It was slightly easier last week due to the conditions, not easier to defend, but it is harder to make breaks.
"The challenge was to do it in thirty degrees here today against a team that can score lots of points. That pleased me.
"Steve Menzies played really strong today, it was a tough day for an old man, but he played strong and his first try came at the right time for us.
"What was good for us was the French players that stood up for us and played well.
"Casty, Ferriol, Pelissier, Pala, Baitieri and Mounis all played really well for us, that is promising for us as a club going forward."
Wakefield coach Richard Agar admitted his side struggled in the heat after spending a large part of Friday travelling to France.
He said: "It was tough for us today. We travelled for 12 to 13 hours yesterday to get here and that is not good preparation for us to play here in this heat.
"I don't want to sound like I'm using that as an excuse because I'm not, but as far as performance goes it is not ideal.
"The likes of Kyle Trout, Ben Cockayne and Paul Johnson played superbly well for us today, they really stood up in tough conditions and I'm proud of the fact that we kept going and only really faded away in the last 10 minutes due to the conditions.
"If you look at the tries we conceded two were from high kicks at the start of the half and one was an intercept.
"They haven't really broken our line too often so we can look back on that as a positive.
"We've now finished our run of away games at Leeds, Bradford and here so we can go back home and look to build on our promising performances."
