Fast start pleases Smith
No complaints from deflated Rhinos boss
Warrington coach Tony Smith was delighted with his side's start in their 37-18 home victory over the Leeds Rhinos.
The Wolves scored five tries as they raced into a 30-0 lead after 28 minutes, and despite only adding one further try in the second half, they held on to win comfortably.
Smith said: "It was pleasing to get a start like we did against what is a very good team and I thought our defence was terrific as well in that first half and in what was a pleasing performance overall.
"We didn't manage the game very well the previous week and in the second half there were probably a few skeletons that we were still trying to get rid of and we became over-anxious.
"I didn't think we carried on as well as we needed to in the second half but there was a little anxiety and we were trying too hard, but it's all about learning and getting better and that's what we are about as a club."
Smith is happy his side will now have a week off due to the Exiles game next weekend and believes Brett Hodgson should be fit to take part in the game after limping off in the second half tonight.
Smith added: "Brett feels quite confident he is going to be fine for next weekend. He didn't pull anything, he just tightened his hamstring so as soon as we heard that we got him off.
"We will still be doing some work next week but I will just be grateful if all my players come back fit and healthy."
Leeds coach Brian McDermott admits he and his players will face another tough week after their second heavy defeat in seven days.
"Warrington looked too big and too strong, faster than us, and that is something we need to get on top of," he said.
"We had a tough week last week and it will be another tough week this week.
"You can look at the last 50 minutes of that game and take something from it. We showed resilience and a bit of steel to repel them away from our try line, but over the game you wonder if that was a reaction to what we did in the first 30 minutes.
"Next week we will be focusing on that first 30 minutes and not on the 50 minutes where we showed what we have already done this season and know that is there."
McDermott was at least happy with the performance of scrum-half Rob Burrow, who scored two tries and set up a third.
McDermott added: "Sometimes it is easy for Rob to do what he did when we have the momentum, but it takes a special kind of player to do that when we don't. But I would like to be saying that about a few more blokes."
