Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson was delighted with his club's 18-16 victory over Wakefield but admitted 'the best team lost.'

The Giants remain the only club in Super League with a 100% record from four games this season.

The visitors had to survive a late Wildcats' fightback from 18-8 behind, although Huddersfield held on to win by two points.

Wakefield thought they had snatched a last-gasp try through Lee Smith only for it to be disallowed for a forward pass

Anderson said: "I genuinely do believe the best team lost.

"With the amount of possession they had on our line, I thought Wakefield deserved to win. Their six and seven controlled the game.

"We committed rugby league suicide at times out there. Credit to Wakefield, they kept plugging away and created opportunities. They're a good team."

Wildcats coach Richard Agar added: "We may have shaded it over the 80 minutes and we certainly had opportunities to win it.

"I didn't think it was a forward pass and I'd like to measure it and see if it was any more forward than Jermaine McGillvary's in the first half.

"But our passing let us down a little bit. We punched holes in them but they defended really well at times and made it tough for us to crack them. I thought it was a good old-fashioned contest.

"If we continue to play with the same commitment we won't go far wrong this season. I was really encouraged by a lot of things we did today."
