Francis Cummins: Was left short of forward options for the game against the Giants

It's tough at the moment but I'm really confident about those players, the people around the club and the supporters. We're going to be okay.

Bradford coach Francis Cummins admitted it had been a "tough day" for his depleted Bulls after they were beaten 66-18 by Huddersfield.

The Giants ran in 12 tries at the Provident Stadium against a side that were left short of forwards following Adam Sidlow's late withdrawal due to illness and the unavailability of Anthony Mullally, who is on loan from Huddersfield.

All this unfolded in front of Mandy Koukash, the wife of Salford Red Devils owner Marwan, who is believed to be one of four potential bidders being considered to take over the troubled Bulls.

"We knew it was going to be a tough day," Cummins said. "The lads' effort was great but, if you are going to go into a game with two props, especially against a team of literal Giants, then it's going to be a tough day.

"They had more forwards on the bench than we did in our entire team. That meant our outside backs had to do some extra work.

"We needed to be smarter but we were always going to struggle with the personnel.

"It's tough at the moment but I'm really confident about those players, the people around the club and the supporters. We're going to be okay. We need someone to take over this club and hopefully give us a little bit of back-up.

"It sounds like there's a few consortiums in there."

Real positive

It was a bittersweet result for Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson - he made 178 appearances for Bradford in his playing career and is now hoping for some good news for his old club in the near future.

"The real positive for them is that there are rumblings that something is going to happen," Anderson said.

"The doctor and his wife seem keen to take over and if it is them, or whoever it is, then they need to have the interests of Bradford at heart because it's a good club.

"There are a lot of good people here."

Scott Grix, former Bradford player Joe Wardle, Jermaine McGillvary and Ukuma Ta'ai all scored two tries apiece for the Giants, with Danny Brough successful with nine of his 12 shots at goal.

"We were just happy to get the win," Anderson added. "At times it was very slow and there was no ruck speed.

"Both teams fell down to a really slow level and we made four changes with 60 minutes gone. The whole speed of the game wasn't great but I thought we turned up at times.

"We were scrappy but we got through the game and obviously the scoreboard showed that."
