Huby: Late penalty ensured tie
Rock-bottom Castleford drew 22-22 with Wigan in a pulsating clash at the Jungle on Sunday.
The Tigers started the better and got their noses in front in the fifth minute through a Ryan McGoldrick touch down, with Craig Huby adding the extras.
Andrew Henderson then doubled the lead 13 minutes later when he spotted a gap and ran through the Wigan line unchallenged, and Huby converted.
But the play-off chasing Warriors managed to half the deficit on 22 minutes when winger Pat Richards won the chase to his own kick to score and then also converted from out wide.
Castleford finished the half stronger and Huby made it 14-6 with a penalty, before Luke Dorn was stopped just short of the line.
Huby himself was then held over the line on the next tackle as the Warriors held on.
Shortly after the re-start, Wigan got back into the game through a Trent Barrett try.
Despite being clipped by substitute Ryan Boyle, the stand-off regained his feet and dived under the posts to score, with Richards easily converting.
Cas could then have pulled further away and it needed desperate defending to prevent Henderson getting a second try.
But Wigan then went ahead for the first time on 63 minutes after Mick Higham scooped up a loose ball to touchdown and Richards converted.
But two minutes later the home-side got back in front through a Peter Lupton try and Huby conversion.
The lead then changed hands yet again with eight minutes remaining as Thomas Leuluai wriggled through a gap to score.
But Richards was unable to convert and Huby levelled the scores with a penalty soon after to give the Tigers a creditable draw.
Despite the point, the Tigers are now four points adrift at the bottom after the Huddersfield Giants beat Harlequins, while the point ensured Wigan remain in fifth.
