Tansey: Late try
Hull moved into fourth spot in the engage Super League table with a 42-18 victory over Harlequins at the Twickenham Stoop.
After opening up a 30-0 lead at half-time the visitors held off a second-half fightback by Quins before late scores from Jordan Tansey and Mark O'Meley closed them out.
Hull took the lead on 10 minutes, the returning O'Meley bouncing off two tackles before barging through to score under the uprights.
Just six minutes later the visitors extended their lead, Kirk Yeaman strolling through a huge gap to touch down thanks to a beautifully-timed pass from Shaun Berrigan.
A third try from the Black and Whites came after a huge hit by Tom Briscoe dislodged the ball from Ben Jones-Bishop's grasp. The quickly-recycled ball found Danny Houghton, who shot clear to cross under the posts.
Soon after Jordan Turner showed his pace to surge in at the corner and, on 31 minutes, Sam Moa charged over to bring up the 30 points for Hull.
Harlequins finally got off the mark 14 minutes into the second half when Luke Dorn latched on to a brilliant Luke Gale chip and crossed under the posts.
With the Airlie Birds appearing happy to defend their lead, Quins began to enjoy more possession.
And on 65 minutes, Will Sharp brushed off a couple of tackles inside his own half before racing away to score an excellent solo effort.
The hosts closed the gap further with just under 10 minutes to go, Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook powering away to the line after a Chris Melling break.
But Tansey's late score settled any nerves for Hull and the impressive O'Meley's second try of the afternoon put the icing on the cake.
