Damien Cardace enjoyed a four-try debut for the Catalan Dragons who posted their record Super League score as they beat Widnes 76-6 in Perpignan.
The young winger had the run of the Stade Gilbert Brutus against the Super League newcomers, who were given perhaps their loudest wake-up call yet.
Having beaten London last weekend, Denis Betts' men could have been forgiven for thinking their tough baptism was coming to an end, but Trent Robinson's men showed no mercy as they responded to their surprise loss at Wakefield last time out.
Clint Greenshields also chimed in with a hat-trick, with the other scores going to Remy Casty, Setamaita Sa, Louis Anderson, Damien Blanch, Daryl Millard and Vincent Duport.
Widnes, for whom Sione Kite scored in the first half, return to the bottom of the division as a result of London's win over Wakefield.
The writing was on the wall for Widnes as early as the opening minute when Greenshields, playing his first home game since announcing he would be leaving the club at the end of the season, cruised in.
Five minutes later a second try arrived, with Scott Dureau putting Casty over, before Kite grabbed what would turn out to be Widnes' only positive contribution of the night.
Things were quite tight for a while after that, before the Dragons let rip in a devastating spell prior to the interval.
They ran in four back-to-back tries, with Widnes only touching the ball when they kicked off.
Greenshields was the first in, with Sa following. Cardace then decided to introduce himself to the Super League, outstripping the Widnes defence to score two quick tries.
Dureau was perfect with the boot throughout the half, and continued to kick with unerring accuracy after the break.
He tagged the extras to scores from Blanch, Duport, Millard and Anderson, with Millard then putting in 18-year-old Cardace for his hat-trick.
Dureau left the field to a standing ovation having kicked 11 from 11 - including Cardace's fourth - and, even after he went off, the perfection continued, with Millard converting Greenshields' hat-trick try.Challenge Cup. Click here to bet.
