Catalan Dragons scored seven points in the last five minutes to grab a scarcely-deserved 13-10 victory at Hull KR.
Rovers had dominated an error-strewn contest in appalling conditions but failed to kill off the game when they had the chance.
And the visitors punished them in emphatic style, with Clint Greenshields' try five minutes from time and a drop-goal and a penalty from Scott Dureau securing the win.
Rovers had looked set to claim their fifth straight win in their pursuit of a play-off berth despite losing Kris Welham and Rhys Lovegrove to what appeared to be serious injuries.
They fell behind early on when Dureau's high bomb was tipped back by Daryl Millard and Greenshields put Setaimata Sa in at the corner.
But after back-to-back penalties, Blake Green's grubber into the corner was finished well by a diving Jake Webster on his 100th appearance and Michael Dobson converted from the touchline for a 6-4 lead.
Ben Galea and Dobson both missed chances to increase the lead with knock-ons close to the Dragons' line and the French side were fortunate to get in at half-time with just a two-point deficit.
Graham Horne's knock-on in the act of scoring gave them another reprieve and after Scott Murrell's high shot, Dureau's penalty levelled the scores.
Murrell made amends on the hour as he slid in to touch down Lincoln Withers' kick although this time Dobson could not convert.
Catalan finally had a spell of pressure in the last 10 minutes and they go their reward when Greenshields got a finger tip to Gregory Mounis' kick into the corner, although the video ref saw no separation between finger and ball where the home crowd definitely did.
Dureau missed the conversion but with three minutes left he fired over a superb 40-metre drop-goal.
Steve Menzies knocked-on the short kick-off and then made amends by charging down Dobson's drop-goal attempt and forcing a knock-on, and as Rovers' frustration bubbled over, Dureau kicked a penalty after time had expired.
