Warrington moved to within two points of Super League leaders Wigan with a 26-12 victory over Bradford at Odsal.

The visitors had to wait until midway through the first half for their first try through Ben Currie, but Lee Briers, Michael Monaghan and Trent Waterhouse all crossed before the break to give Warrington a 20-0 half-time lead.

Ryan Atkins' try all but ended the game as a contest shortly after the resumption before Chev Walker and James Donaldson grabbed consolation tries for Bradford in their fifth consecutive defeat.

The Bulls defended stoutly for the opening quarter but they were made to pay for their first lapse in concentration, as rising star Currie burst through a gap in the home defence to cross in the left corner from 30 yards out to finally break the deadlock in the 20th minute.

Bradford's line was breached again three minutes later as a slick move down the right ended with Chris Riley passing inside to Briers, who this time would not be denied.

The Wolves added two more tries before the interval to put themselves firmly in the ascendancy.

Clever work

First, indiscipline in the tackle from Bradford gave Warrington a penalty 30 yards from goal and Monaghan superbly dived over the line near the posts after clever work from dummy half

Second-rower Waterhouse then squeezed over on the left from stand-in scrum-half Stefan Ratchford's pass.

Any hopes the Bulls had of getting back into the match after the interval took a significant blow as Atkins intercepted a cut out pass and dived over unchallenged five minutes after the re-start, with Brett Hodgson knocking over his third conversion.

To their credit, the Bulls refused to lie down, but they looked bereft of ideas in attack and a couple of handling errors cost them dear in crucial positions.

Their persistence paid off, however, as seconds after John Bateman had been held up Walker went over under the posts in the 66th minute, while Donaldson's try on the hooter gave the Bulls the final word.
