Catalan Dragons got back to winning ways with a 34-28 triumph over London Broncos at Stade Gilbert Brutus.

Kevin Larroyer and Morgan Escare both crossed twice as the fifth-placed Dragons - who had conceded 60 points at Huddersfield last time out - got the better of Super League's bottom club in Perpignan.

The Broncos did threaten a late fightback but have now not tasted victory in league action since getting the better of St Helens on April 27.

Despite the visitors actually starting brightly, the Dragons broke the deadlock in the seventh minute when Zeb Taia found a way to get over the line.

Tomas Bosc missed the conversion attempt but was able to add the extras after back-to-back penalties resulted in Larroyer touching down, putting Les Catalans 10-0 to the good.

Flowing move

They moved further clear just past the midway point of the first half when Escare was on hand to finish off a flowing Dragons move that had all started deep within their own territory.

The Broncos did their best to try and and find a route back into the contest and although Dan Sarginson was held up over the line, Jamie O'Callaghan did find a way to score in the corner after 32 minutes.

However, the capital club's comeback hopes were dealt a severe blow when the Dragons struck twice more before the break, Escare's second of the evening being followed by a try from Bosc, who also added both conversion attempts.

It took them only six minutes of the second half to add to their tally, Scott Dureau crossing right after Taia had been denied a second due to a ball steal.

At 34-4 it seemed the two points were in the bag for the Dragons, yet the Broncos scored four tries in the space of 18 minutes to close the gap to such an extent that the hosts were eventually grateful to hear the full-time hooter.

Mark Bryant got the first and Jamie Soward converted, with the Australian half-back then showing his talents with the boot in open play when his clever kick was collected and finished by compatriot Luke Dorn.

A quick-fire double from Sarginson made for a rather more tense finish than had seemed likely after an hour of play, but the Broncos simply ran out of time in their attempts to claw their way back onto level terms.
