Rhys Evans ran in four tries as Warrington Wolves subdued a feisty London Broncos 44-16 in the capital.

Winger Evans struck either side of half-time in this First Utility Super League encounter, then twice in the game's closing moments as the Wolves erased a 16-14 interval deficit to eventually ease home.

For Warrington it evened their season record at two wins and two losses, while the Broncos remain winless.

The hosts were forced into a number of changes for the clash, shorn of hamstring victims James Duckworth and Nesiasi Mataitonga, as well as Josh Drinkwater, with Ben Farrar switching to full-back, Jordan Atkins returning at right wing and Mike Bishay at stand-off.

There was also a place among the replacements for former Melbourne Storm winger Denny Solomona, who had only arrived from Australia on Saturday morning.

For the Wolves, Evans replaced Joel Monaghan, while there were spots on the bench for debutant Matty Russell and Glenn Riley.

Warrington were first on the board inside three minutes, Roy Asotasi taking a short pass from Ben Westwood and crashing over.

But within five minutes the Broncos had struck back, Nick Slyney muscling over from close range after good work from Bishay.

The game was proving a more even contest than perhaps many had expected, with the Londoners giving as good as they got in the first quarter.

And things got even better for the Broncos on 16 minutes, Farrar selling a dummy to the Warrington defence before sneaking over in the corner to make it 12-6.

Still London pushed on, moving further ahead when Thomas Minns claimed a Scott Moore cross-kick before burrowing over on 23 minutes.

That shock spurred Warrington into life, Chris Bridge showing great strength to break over in the corner just two minutes later. And the Wolves closed the gap to just two points with seven minutes of the half remaining, Bridge opening up the space for Evans to canter over.

Moments into the second half Warrington moved back into the lead, Gene Ormsby shrugging off some weak tackles to touch down after claiming a sloppy Bishay kick.

Now Warrington had the bit between their teeth, Evans claiming his second try in the 47th minute when he rounded off a flowing passing move involving Bridge and Ryan Atkins.

London were looking tired, offering little in attack but still proving manful in defence. But, despite waves of pressure, the visitors were unable to tack on a further score, and the Broncos were mightily close to reducing the deficit midway through the half when Jamie O'Callaghan could only get fingers to a Moore kick in the corner.

Minns then spilled a further chance for the hosts as London rallied again, but that miss proved costly when the Wolves put the game to bed on 67 minutes, Atkins galloping home after a break from Michael Monaghan.

Three minutes later Evans claimed his third score, pouncing to race clear after a Broncos pass had gone to ground on halfway.

There was still time for the winger to claim his fourth score, squeezing in at the corner after Bridge was held short. Atkins claimed his second with the final play of the game, intercepting a Farrar pass to race the length of the field and score.
