Warrington made it three big wins in a row and continued their dominance over Wakefield thanks to a comfortable 36-4 triumph at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

The Wolves arrived on the back of victories over Catalan Dragons and St Helens and they moved up to fifth in Super League as Ben Currie crossed twice in an impressive individual display.

Three tries in six minutes just before the break ultimately won the match for Warrington, Currie scoring two and Gene Ormsby one to build on Stefan Ratchford's early effort as the visitors claimed an 18-0 half-time lead.

Chris Bridge's converted try early in the second period made it 24-0 and after Lucas Walshaw briefly gave the Wildcats hope, Ryan Atkins and Richard Myler wrapped up the Wolves' ninth successive win over the Wildcats and fifth in a row at Belle Vue.

Richard Owen made his Wildcats debut in place of Chris Riley, who missed out under the terms of his loan from Warrington, while centre Dean Collis was also absent with a knee injury.

A similar problem robbed the Wolves of back-rower Trent Waterhouse and Joel and Michael Monaghan both missed out but the 2012 and 2013 beaten Grand Finalists were boosted by the return of half-back Myler.

Former Wakefield forward Ben Westwood was placed on report in the opening minutes for a dangerous throw which forced Scott Anderson off and that set the tone for a heated first half.

The home side earned two repeat sets on the back of the penalty but Warrington held firm and then took a ninth-minute lead through Ratchford after Atkins raced clear down the left touchline.

Further behind

Anderson returned to the action midway through the first half to the relief of the Wildcats, who worked their way into the contest but found themselves further behind seven minutes from half-time.

Wakefield conceded back-to-back penalties and were punished as Warrington moved the ball from left to right before Bridge fed Currie to score in the corner.

It was a case of deja vu when Currie crossed again minutes later after the Wolves kept the ball alive following a break by Ratchford and there was still time for Ormsby to squeeze over in the corner after juggling a Bridge pass.

Bridge went over himself seven minutes into the second half after good work down the right by Currie before Walshaw gave the Wakefield fans something to cheer in the 54th minute with a try from dummy half.

That was as good as it got for the Wildcats, though, and Warrington completed a comfortable win with two tries in the last 10 minutes.

Atkins touched down after a good offload from the ground by the returning Myler, who then gathered Currie's kick to go over next to the posts to compound Wakefield's misery.
