How IRB `banned` Hoskins
Jake White and Oregan Hoskins
SA Rugby president Oregan Hoskins says he has questioned the International Rugby Board (IRB) after being prevented from being part of the presentation of the World Cup trophy at the Stade de France oat the weekend.
He said IRB officials told him that he was not allowed onto the field.
Talking to Jacaranda 94.2 from France he said: "I think it's a pity that I was not able to enjoy the significance of receiving the trophy with the captain and president Thabo Mbeki."
Hoskins has also been criticized from some quarters for not travelling with the team and for his absence at the OR Tambo airport Tuesday morning.
However he told Jacaranda 94.2 news that he would only be arriving back in South Africa Wednesday - after being elected to the executive of the IRB.
"I am taking care of business over here [in France] before I get home," he said.
"I am happy that the Managing Director, Jonathan Stones, the acting CEO Mveleli Ncula and Deputy Sport Minister Gert Oosthuizen were there to receive our wonderful team - a great achievement by Jake White and John Smit in bringing back the Webb Ellis trophy to the Rainbow Nation of South Africa."
