Jamie Cudmore: Out of the World Cup

Canada flanker Jamie Cudmore has been ruled out of the remainder of his side's World Cup campaign after has breaking a bone in his left hand.

With Cudmore expected to be in plaster for the next three weeks, Canada have called in Josh Jackson from French club Bordeaux-Begles as a replacement.

Cudmore is a major player for the Cannucks and his loss just three days before they face Japan is a major blow.

But Canada remain determined to get a victory on the board this week, after suffering brave defeats to Wales and Fiji.

"The two games we really targeted were Fiji and Japan. They are within striking range whereas Wales and Australia would be an upset win," said Canada coach Ric Suggitt.

"We lost to Fiji on the last play of the game and we are hoping we don't have to go down to the last minute against Japan.

"We have lost Cudmore but picked up Jackson and that gives us another option in the forward pack.''

Canada's final match of Pool B is against Australia on September 29.
