Lelos lose their skipper
Over and Out: Zedginidze has been forced to take early retirement
Georgia captain Ilia Zedginidze will miss the rest of the World Cup after fracturing his right kneecap in his side's narrow 10-14 loss to Ireland on Sunday.
The 30-year-old underwent scans on the injury on Monday and they confirmed that he would not be able to play in his country's two remaining pool games
against Namibia and France.
The injury brings the Auch lock's illustrious career to sad end, with Georgian team officials confirming that he will now hang up his boots.
"He plans to return to Georgia after the World Cup and will stop playing rugby," said the team's press spokesman Georges Tchumburidze.
Zedginidze made his Test debut against Ireland in 1998 and went on to win 48 caps, scoring 13 international tries in the process.
The Lelos captaincy has been passed to scrum-half Irakli Abuseridze.
