100-up for Troncon
Troncon is set to join the 100 club
Italian coach Pierre Berbizier has named his side for the clash with Portugal in Paris on Wednesday, and in the process handed Alessandro Troncon his 100th cap.
Having come off the bench in the win over Romania to take his tally to 99 caps Troncon now will win his 100th against Portugal, becoming only the seventh player to win 100 Test caps.
Troncon joins an illustrious club featuring Philippe Sella, Jason Leonard, George Gregan, Fabien Pelous, David Campese and Stephen Larkham.
He will be joined at fly-half by Roland de Marigny, who replaces Ramiro Pez. Pez finds himself out of the squad altogether, despite having been named as the IRB man of the match against Romania.
As was expected Berbizier has called both Pablo Canavosio and Matteo Pratichetti into the side, and they will start on the right and left wing respectively.
The front row has a formidable look to it, with Martin Castrogiovanni and Andrea Lo Cicero packing down either side of Leonardo Ghiraldini. With Manoa Vosawai winning his first start of the World Cup at number eight, Sergio Parisse shifts across to blindside.
