Socol: Not the look of a happy man!

Romanian captain Sorin Socol was far from happy in the aftermath of his side's 24-18 defeat to Italy on Wednesday.

Having taken the lead in a dour affair, Romania proceeded to give away nine penalties in the remaining half an hour, one of which saw them reduced to fourteen men and another that cost them a penalty try.

It was the manner in which Tony Spreadbury blew them off the park that most concerned Socol though.

"We are not happy, we are not satisfied, we could have had a victory here," he said.

"We were equal, and then they got that penalty try. I don't want to criticise the referee, but it's a shame, that the little countries still seem to be treated differently to the big ones.

"We were equal, but then that try, and it was not right."

However Socol did admit his side lost their discipline to an extent, but he claimed it was no worse than the Italians.

"Even if we committed one or two fouls, they were no worse than those of our opposition," he said.

"So no, we are not satisfied, and we are not content, but now we just have to carry on and do our best in the tournament."
