White and Scotland ready

Saturday's game is black and White for Jason

Scotland captain Jason White believes his side are ready for their all-important game against Italy in Saint Etienne on Saturday.

The equation is simple for White and his men: win and they are in the quarter-finals, lose and they are going home. And it is no surprise White admitted it will be a huge test of their credentials.

Their form in the World Cup to date has not been brilliant, but they have managed to win two games whilst not playing particularly well, but did suffer a heavy defeat to New Zealand. But that defeat has not distracted them from the task at hand.

"We're going into this reasonably happy with the way we have played so far and we're looking forward to the game," White told Sentana.

"I think we are ready. Looking at the balance between how many games you play in the warm-up, the opposition and the timing of the season, everything has gone pretty much on cue.

"Everyone in the squad has played games, our performance has improved but the test comes at the weekend.

"It's certainly the biggest game of the season for me. My first game against Argentina was a big thing. There have been a lot of big games.

"Without a doubt, this is an important game for Scotland. I'm hoping that next week we'll have our most important game."
