Pichot admits fatigue
Gus Pichot: Waking up his team-mates
Argentina captain Agustin Pichot said that his side was tired both during and after their tough 19-13 World Cup quarter-final win in Paris on Sunday.
The Pumas have had it tough in the World Cup so far, enduring two games in five days at the start of the tournament, as well as having to overcome both France and Ireland in the pool stages.
The quarter-final victory was not inspiring stuff, and Pichot said the tactics had not been intended to inspire, rather to do a job on the Scots.
"We were very tired and Scotland played very well. But we stuck with it," he told ITV1.
"Scotland were very good and we didn't underestimate them.
"They have a great team and we have a lot of respect for them."
Argentina face a tough semi-final against South Africa next weekend, and a week of rest may be called for.
Meanwhile, Scotland flanker Allister Hogg felt his side had wasted their chance to beat the Pumas late on.
Chris Cusiter scored a try for Scotland but despite some late pressure they were unable to get back into the game and claim a last-four clash with South Africa next weekend.
"We had some chances today and felt we had the beating of Argentina and could go further in this tournament, so we're disappointed," Hogg told ITV1.
"It was pretty tough. We tried to play a bit of a territorial game but it didn't come off.
"They are a good side, well drilled, they know each other very well and play together well."
