An advertisement campaign in Australia ran after the 1999 Rugby World Cup mocked Larkham's lack of kicking prowess, after he kicked one of only two Test career drop goals during extra time against South Africa to send Australia through to the final. The advertisement started with his schoolboy coaches remembering how poor a kicker he was, then replayed the moment of the semi-final when he kicked the goal, adding most of his peers shouting 'don't kick it' to him as he lined it up.
