Strengths: As the most-capped Italian rugby player of all time, the combative Troncon has the experience and wherewithal to marshal the Italian team from the base of the scrum and he is also a skilled runner with ball in hand.

Weaknesses: Troncon's knees have all the reliability of an Enfield motorcycle and he is thus an injury concern. He was sidelined after the 2003 RWC with a serious knee injury which forced him to miss the 2004 Six Nations.
