Andrew Ellis
Date of birth: 21/02/1984
Position: Scrum-half
Test caps: 2
Test Debut: England, 2006
Test Points: 0
Current Club: Canterbury Crusaders
Strengths: A surprise selection ahead of Piri Weepu, Ellis has shown in a short time that he has one of the quickest passes around and his kicking from the base of the ruck is also impressive.
Weaknesses: Relatively untested at the top level of the game having made just two substitute appearances for the All Blacks. Will be holding the tackle bags for much of the World Cup as a result of this lack of experience, but should provide young, exuberant legs off the bench when called upon.

Did you know? Along with Crusaders teammate Wyatt Crockett, Ellis celebrated his first call-up for the All Blacks with complete strangers after a frantic search for a television to watch the team announcement ended in an unknown couple's hotel room.
