Strengths: There aren't many rugby players who can keep up with Howlett, who possesses extreme pace that is complemented by a tricky sidestep. Averages better than a try every two games, showing what a deadly finisher he can be.
Weaknesses: While his blistering pace is great for tracking down players on the break, the rest of his defence and handling are not as sound as other wingers in the game.

Did you know? He first played for Auckland whilst still at secondary school (he was head boy of Auckland Grammar) and was the youngest player ever to debut in Super 12, at the age of 18. He then scored three tries in his run-on debut a week later.
