Andre Pretorius
Date of birth: 29/12/1978
Position: Fly-half
Test caps: 25
Test Debut: Wales, 2002
Test points: 163
Current Club: Lions
Strengths: Pretorius is known for being a creative fly-half with a good sidestep, superb vision and good distribution skills in addition to being a reliable goal kicker. Touted as the answer to the Springbok fly-half dilemma, much is expected of this stylish young fly-half who is the nearest thing to a South African version of British Lions and Welsh legend Phil Bennett.
Weaknesses: Pretorius has been criticised for his average defensive skills, which may be down to his small stature. He also tends to opt for the safety of a drop-kick when an attacking opportunity is on for the Boks. Injuries have also kept the pivot away from contact for a good few months.
Likely headline: 'Pretorius pulls a Stranksy!' or at worst, 'Pretorius pulls a hamstring!'
Did you know?: Pretorius's hamstring trouble was treated by Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfarth in Munich. The German injected Pretorius with Hylart - a fluid from the combs of roosters - as well as honey and rhino horn juice.
