80 Jones slams a loose ball out of play and the game is over, the Lions have the win but South Africa the series. Geech and co will look back on what could have been, but for now they can celebrate a superb success at Ellis Park.
79 Ellis drills a smart kick along the line, pinning the Boks deep inside their own half with time fast running out. The Lions know they are now in touching distance of a win they have thoroughly deserved in this series.
76 Ndungane thinks he's got the Boks' first try of the afternoon, seeming to do superbly well to ground the ball before he puts a foot in touch. However, after a lengthy look, the video official decides the winger was out before he was over, ruling it out. Shaun Edwards goes mental on the touchline as his side continue to hold out the world champions, who said this was just a dead rubber?
72 Almost straight from the re-start Matfield shoves over Jones well after the number 10's clearing kick. The penalty is awarded from where Steyn catches the ball, leaving the Welshman with a simple kick to add three more. The Lions have now equalled their highest ever tally against the Boks in a Test.
70 After a lengthy chat with his touch judge the referee awards the Lions a penalty for Brussow's throw on Phillips. Jones steps up to slot over three easy points and leave the Boks with a mountain to climb at altitude.
70 The temperatures reach boiling point after a Phillips hack on is touched in goal by a Bok. The insuing ruck sees the scrum-half thrown down by Brussow, only to get up and come back at the flanker for a second effort. The incident sets off the rest, with Ellis and Francois Steyn becoming involved on the ground.
67 Morne Steyn slots over a penalty to get the Boks within two converted scores of a clean sweep. The kick game about following holding on in the tackle by Williams, who is then scragged around by Brussow and Spies when he sits on the ball.
66 Steyn goes for a drop goal from fully 65 metres out, despite three points really being of no importance to the Boks right now. He gets the power but not the accuracy, making his attempt look a little silly considering the match situation.
64 The Boks get a penalty and kick for the corner. Spies comes on to play on the wing (that's not a mistake) but the chance goes begging when Du Plessis fails to throw straight.
62 Kearney pushes a long, long range penalty attempt just wide. It had the distance but not the direction. The way the Irishman has played on tour you'd have thought he was certain to slot that over.
61 The Lions win a penalty as South Africa are done for not releasing. Ellis Park - a place where the Boks haven't been beaten since 2001 - is now resounding to the sound of 'Swing Lo, Sweet Chariot'.
59 Pienaar darts from the base of a ruck down the blindside but is forced into touch. The replacement has looked much better at scrum-half than in the number 10 role he started in for the first two Tests.
Changes Kirchner comes off after a difficult afternoon. Francois Steyn steps in at full-back having earlier featured at centre.
55 Jones converts from bang in front as the Lions are forced to make changes, Vickery and the injured Flutey making way for John Hayes and Harry Ellis, who are both making their Lions Test debuts here.
54 From defence to attack in a blink of an eye! The Lions look in real trouble until Monye steps out of the line to pluck away a long pass before galloping away under the posts all the way down the other end. He's celebrating before he's crossed, how sweet that moment must be for the winger following his misses in the first Test.
52 Kirchner wastes a glorious chance for the Boks when he tries to offload and loses the ball just a metre short of the try line. Bowe did excellently to get back and pressure the full-back after Pienaar's burst down the middle had caught the Lions cold.
49 But the attack stops again when the Lions are guilty of not releasing in the tackle. The backs look dangerous but too often the forwards are trying to do it themselves.
48 Kirchner slices a kick out on the full after the ball had been carried back into the 22. The Lions can see the line again and have a line-out chance...
47 O'Connell gets some well deserved pats on the back after doing wonderfully well to win a penalty after the Boks had threatened with Ndungane - Monye did wonderfully well to bring down the winger just as he reached top speed.
45 The Lions pick and drive beautifully but then waste the chance next to the try line, continuing with the same tactic when it should have come out to let the backs attack. A golden chance goes begging to add to their tally. South Africa had escaped with not giving away a penalty when Muller was clearly not releasing the ball as instructed.
41 We're back underway and almost immediately Heaslip gets in to steal South African ball and get the Lions going forward.
Sub Ruan Pienaar and Bismarck du Plessis have been sent on from the bench in place of du Preez and Ralepelle respectively. The Boks have some big guns on the bench to call upon.
Contact So what do we reckon here after 40 minutes? Can the Lions make sure they don't suffer the same result as last week by holding on to a half-time lead. Have your thoughts by e-mailing me at rob.lancaster@bskyb.com.
40 So it's a nine-point gap at the break and the Lions have to play around six minutes without Simon Shaw at the start of the second half.
40 The error in failing to make touch leads to a penalty that Steyn kicks to close the gap by three. For the second week in a row the Lions have given away three points right before the break to give their opponents renewed hope.
40 The Lions come under pressure at the scrum, leading to a penalty for offside. The Boks catch and drive only for Flutey to stop Olivier in his tracks before his team-mates pile over to rob the South African centre of the ball. Kearney clears but fails to make touch with half-time beckoning.
37 The Lions are down to 14 after the touchjudge tells his ref to show a yellow to Simon Shaw for going in with the knee on Du Preez's back. A costly loss for the tourists so close to half time.
Sub Rees has been helped off the field after a heavy hit, meaning for the first time in this series we have a Scot on the field in Ross Ford.
35 The Lions are flowing now, Jones chipping over the top for Bowe to race onto. However, the Ireland centre drops the ball with the line in his sights, and even though it's come backwards the move still dies when Heaslip is caught not coming in straight at the breakdown.
34 Jones makes no mistake this time with his kick, slotting over from bang in front to make it 15-3.
33 The Lions cut loose again to get a second try, Williams again the scorer thanks to Flutey's fine handling. After Shaw robs the ball in the centre of the field Flutey kicks and collects thanks to a kind bounce before flicking back a wonderful pass for Williams to take and finish.
30 Ohh the Lions go so close! Williams and Kearney work a lovely runaround out on the left flank. The Wales winger tries to get clear but has to kick back inside where none of his team-mates have backed him up. Steyn (Morne that is, Francois is now off again) eventually clears well.
28 The Beast is more pussycat in the front row right now, crumpling under Vickery's persistent pressure in the scrum. The Lions get the penalty to clear their lines.
28 The Lions nearly concede straight away after scoring, du Preez's magical offload setting free Ndungane down the right but the winger is caught and robbed off possession.
26 The conversion comes a cropper for Jones when the ball rolls off the tee as he's running in to strike it. He tries to pick it up and go for a drop goal, but sub Steyn is alert and gets out to stop the fly-half.
25 Lion Wiliams roars at last on tour! The Boks lose their own lineout which leads to Heaslip bursting away down the right before sending a perfectly-timed offload inside to Williams. The winger gallops in untouched.
Sub Francois Steyn is on for Jaque Fourie. It's a blood replacement in the centres.
24 South Africa threaten off a set piece, as they have done throughout this series. Olivier comes close with the initial effort before the ball is worked across to the left where Ndungane is only denied by Rees' superb last-ditch tackle. To make it even better, the Lions turn the ball over off the winger and clear through Phillips.
20 After four attempts ref Dickinson give up trying to sort out the scrum. Three times the Boks' front row collapses and each time they are given the chance to have another go. Vickery is hammering the Beast.
17 Phillips pays the price for going on his own following a lovely step and burst from Flutey. The scrum-half is forced to hold on when Brussow does wonderfully well to block off the supporting Lions while still on his feet.
16 Monye does well to clear his lines from deep just before Wynand Olivier flattens him with a heavy, but fair, tackle.
14 The Boks survive in their own 22 when they rob at a ruck with the Lions looking real dangerous after great work by the forwards and backs pushing forward.
11 A sliced kick by the winger formally known as Shane Williams leads to the Lions giving away a penalty when Heaslip refuses to release in the tackle. Steyn makes it 3-3 as yet again South Africa punch back straight after taking a blow themselves.
10 Jones makes no mistake second time around, slotting over three points to break the deadlock.
Dust up The Lions win a penalty against the Boks' scrum, both Mtawarira and Smit are forced up into the air by the pressure from the front row. There's a little bit of a scrap between the two number sevens on the floor in the aftermath.
Electric The crowd are loving the action so far, the Lions and the Boks are both opening up the game knowing that the series is no longer on the line. The players look relieved when a knock-on by Bowe allows them to catch their breath for a minute or so.
6 Kearney is back as the last line of defence to stop Nokwe running through onto his own grubber. Not intent with tidying up, the full-back gallops 30 metres down field.
5 The Boks are a little too fired up so far, giving away penalties from coming through at the ruck and taking out the man waiting to play the ball. Kankowski is the man penalised this time, and Jones makes him pay with a deep kick that puts the Lions in excellent field position.
3 The Lions get the chance to put the handbrake on the game with a kick from Jones, but the fly-half can't disect the posts from long range on the right.
2 mins It's a frantic start from both sides, ball being lost at the breakdown and some heavy hits being laid out - none bigger than Simon Shaw's on debutant Zane Kirchner as the full-back cleared with the boot.
Kick off And we're underway at Ellis Park with the Boks piling forward from Steyn's drop out - only to be caught offside at the breakdown to allow Stephen Jones to clear.
Arm bands The South African team are wearing a white arm bands this afternoon in response to the two-week suspension handed down to Bakkies Botha.
Redemption Apart from the obvious storyline of a possible sweep, there is the sub-plot of Tendai Mtawarira and Phil Vickery going head-to-head again in the scrum. The Englishman will desperate to prove that the humiliation he suffered in the first Test was just a very bad day at the office.
Crowd Despite the prospect of a dead rubber there is still a sizeable crowd inside Ellis Park, with plenty of red here to support the Lions through to the bitter end.
History The Springboks will be looking to make history this afternoon as they look to whitewash the Lions for the first time.
Boks Just like their opponents, South Africa have a much-changed side for the last Test. Both Bakkies Botha and Schalk Burger are suspended, while coach Peter de Villiers has opted to rotate to take a look at some other options ahead of the Tri-Nations series.
