History Things are pretty even between these two Celtic countries in recent years. Since 2007, they have played each other on six occasions and the honours are even, with three wins apiece.
Team News Wales have named Rhys Priestland and Jamie Roberts in their starting line-up. Scarlets fly-half Priestland and Blues centre Roberts have recovered from knee injuries in time to take their places in a line-up which shows six changes to that which faced Australia at the Millennium Stadium in December.Huw Bennett is set to win his 50th Wales cap, making him only the second hooker to do so. Saracens loosehead prop Rhys Gill comes into the side for the injured Gethin Jenkins (knee). Blues wing Alex Cuthbert, who made his debut against Australia before Christmas, makes his first start profiting from the retirement of Shane Williams, with Scarlets wing George North (who played in all seven RWC matches last year) switching flanks to take the number eleven jersey synonymous with Wales' top try scorer. Elsewhere in the starting XV, Jonathan Davies is reunited with Roberts and scrum-half Mike Phillips also returns. Davies replaces his regional colleague Scott Williams and Phillips replaces Blues half-back Lloyd Williams. Ospreys prop Adam Jones returns to the front row alongside Gill and half centurion Bennett. The final change from the Australia match sees Ryan Jones come into the back-row for an injured Dan Lydiate (ankle).
Team News Ireland have made three changes to the side that lost to Wales in the World Cup. Fergus McFadden has been given the task of filling the void created by Brian O'Driscoll's absence and will start at centre alongside Gordon D'Arcy. O'Driscoll, who is out of the tournament with a shoulder injury, was originally going to be replaced by Keith Earls but the Munster stalwart was a late withdrawal due to an illness to his baby daughter. In-form Ulster back Andrew Trimble coming into the team on the left wing and in other changes, Jonathan Sexton and Conor Murray are the preferred half-backs. Sexton has edged out the more experienced Ronan O'Gara, who must settle for a spot among the replacements.
