80 Time up on the clock - the Hurricanes win a penalty... it's Read who gets pinged. All the 'Canes need to do is kick the ball out and it's all over... Barrett does just that, and the home side celebrate their first win of the season. What a match!
77 The Hurricanes aren't out of the woods just yet, as Read threatens out wide. A sea of yellow and black jerseys halt him in his tracks though - time running out for the visitors.
74 CONVERSION, HURRICANES. Barrett adds the extras, and the 'Canes take the lead with just six minutes of the match remaining... this is going down to the wire! 29-28
73 TRY, HURRICANES. The hosts bring their supporters on their feet after Leiua, intercepts an Adam Whitelock pass and races in untouched for a crucial try under the sticks!!!
69 PENALTY, HURRICANES. Now the 'Canes get a chance to narrow the gap slightly with a shot at goal... Barrett hasn't missed tonight. And continues his fine kicking performance. Over it goes! 22-28
67 The Crusaders think they've bagged another five-pointer as Todd comes up with the ball. We're going upstairs though... Todd's grounding was fine, but the TMO has spotted an earlier knock from Flynn. No try!
64 The Hurricanes need to score next if they are to have any hope of winning this match - but all they've done is defend, defend, defend.
61 CONVERSION, CRUSADERS. Carter lines up to convert his own try... over it goes! That's 13 points now from the Crusaders pivot in this match.
60 TRY, CRUSADERS. Now Ellis to Carter, who exploits a gap before dropping ball to boot. The bounce is kind for the All Blacks star and the Crusaders celebrate their bonus-point try!
59 This game is anyone's for the taking folks, as Dominic Bird takes it up 10m before he's hauled down by two Hurricanes defenders. The ball is recycled quickly though, and the Crusaders put six more phases together as they enter the Hurricanes' 22.
56 CONVERSION, HURRICANES. Barrett knocks over the conversion from out wide - the goal-kicking in this match has been flawless.
55 TRY, HURRICANES. It's raining tries in the second half here at the Cake Tin, as the 'Canes spread the ball wide to dangerman Savea, who bounces off Crotty and then Dagg before stretching over in the corner - try! Dagg didn't know what hit him... guess that's they call Savea 'the bus'.
52 CONVERSION, CRUSADERS. Carter raises the flags once again - keeping his 100% reciord at goal intact.
51 TRY, CRUSADERS. Bateman puts the ball down, and Dagg hacks the loose ball ahead. The full-back gives chase and toes the pigskin ahead again soccer-style. Conrad Smith is right behind him, but Dagg wins the race after touching down for a superb try!
48 Barrett has a go himself, but gets wrapped up by Sam Whitelock. Karl Lowe comes in to help, and prevents a Crusaders turnover.
47 CONVERSION, CRUSADERS. Carter adds the tricky conversion, and puts his team in front. 12-14!
46 TRY, CRUSADERS. The Crusaders rumble forward and are now camped 5m from the Hurricanes' tryline. Ellis has a dart, but can't find a way through. Flynn uses his bigger frame to try burrow over the whitewash, and he appears to have scored! We're going upstairs.... tick, tock... the TMO finally gives the ref the green light to award the try!
44 Ellis feeds the Crusaders pack at scrum-time. Again, it's Ben Franks who pushes his brother back, but the ball comes out for Carter to clear - setting up a line-out on half-way.
42 Trouble for the Hurricanes now as Dane Coles is forced off the field after rolling his ankle. That's a big blow for the hosts. Motu Matu'u runs on as Coles' replacement...
Second half Welcome back! Barrett gets the second forty under way. It's a deep kick-off, taken in by Dagg who goes high with his return kick. Taylor takes, decides to give it to Brad Shields to run it back but the flank loses the ball in contact.
40 Last act of the first half, and the Hurricanes pressing for a try before half-time. And they nearly get it after Savea snaps a ball out of the air and charges upfield, before losing his footing. The ball is lost forward, which brings up the whistle for half-time!
38 PENALTY, HURRICANES. The Crusaders have given away nine points in the last 10 minutes of this match as Barrett sends over another penalty!
36 PENALTY, HURRICANES. The hosts awarded yet another penalty soon after the restart - Corey Flynn the guilty party on this occassion. And Barrett raises the flags yet again. Hurricanes back in front! 9-7
34 PENALTY, HURRICANES. Barrett closes the gap to make it a one-point ball game with his second successful penalty shot of the night. 6-7
33 The visitors finally make their way inside the Crusaders' half... Tim Bateman is taken down, and George Whitelock is penalised for not rolling away at the tackle.
30 The Crusaders have shifted into fifth gear following that score, as Todd finds himself in space. He has Ellis in support and gets his pass away. Ellis races towards the tryline, but this time the Hurricanes defence shuts him down inches before the chalk.
26 CONVERSION, CRUSADERS. Carter was never going to miss from bang in front and extends the Crusaders lead by two more points. 3-7!
25 TRY, CRUSADERS. The visitors haven't had much ball to work with, but make the most of their opportunity when Ryan Crotty joins the backline at pace and breaks off three poor tackles on his way to a super individual try beside the posts!
22 The Crusaders have the scrum feed just outside the Hurricanes' 22. We've been waiting for the battle between brothers Owen and Ben Franks all week, with the latter winning the duel on this occassion after the Crusaders front-rower is pinged for early engagement.
18 Now it's Fruean on the charge, but runs straight into Smith who holds his ground and gets flattened! Brave defence from the Hurricanes centre, who took a nasty knock to the head in the process.
15 The Hurricanes have only managed to get out of their half once in the opening 15 minutes of the match - the Crusaders dominating territory thus far, but have no points to show for it.... yet.
12 Carter goes deep with a big punt towards the Hurricanes' 22. Andre Taylor - sporting a shaved head - has it covered, and runs it back. He links with Alapati Leiua, but the winger runs into trouble. The ball comes back for Conrad Smith, but it's a poor pass from Perenara and the skipper can't take...
9 Both sides keen to run the ball, but it's quite scrappy out there - first Robbie Fruean couldn't hold on, TJ Perenara picked up the loose ball but threw a pass to the touch judge.
6 PENALTY, HURRICANES. Jason Eaton wins the ball in the air, but Todd is penalised. Chance for the hosts to take an early lead if Beauden Barrett can find his target... over it goes! First blood to the 'Canes. 3-0!
5 Now the 'Canes show what they can do with ball in hand as Julian Savea takes out wide. Isral Dagg is quickly on him though. Savea put in a grubber, and the ball bounces off Dagg into touch - first line-out of the match.
3 The 'Canes cough up possession after Victor Vito ran into a red and black brick wall from the base of the scrum. Now the Crusaders do what they do best - counter-attack! First touch of the ball for Johnny McNicholl, who steps out of one tackle before offloading to Ryan Crotty. The centre busts clear, but Andy Ellis knocks on slightly in his attempt to get the ball out quickly.
1 And we're under way! Dan Carter kicks off for the Crusaders - Matt Todd tries to win it back for his team but knocks on as he leapt for the ball. So we'll have the first scrum of the match with just second gone on the clock...
Team news The Crusaders have also made minimal changes for the clash - with Johnny McNicholl and Tom Marshall coming in on the wing and Dominic Bird named in the second row. The inclusion of Marshall and McNicholl means Adam Whitelock and Tom Taylor drop to the bench and Israel Dagg moves to full-back. Bird comes into the side for the injured Luke Romano, with Tom Donnelly providing cover among the replacements.
Team news Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett has made just one change to the team with Victor Vito moving to the back of the scrum. They should be fairly settled.
Welcome Hello and welcome to Westpac Stadium in the New Zealand capital for this Kiwi derby clash between the Hurricanes and Crusaders!
