Waratahs v Brumbies - Live

Last updated: 18th May 2013

Full TimeFull Time WARATAHS 28-22 BRUMBIES

80 Lucas thumps it into touch. That's it, the WARATAHS WIN! Great comeback from the hosts. The Reds will be cheering from South Africa. Thanks for joining us, cheers!

79 Here comes the Brumbies maul! They go for the line a touch too soon and it collapses just short. The ball is held up so the Tahs will feed the scrum.

78 One last roll of the dice to come from the Brumbies as Toomua puts it right in the corner from a penalty. Hold onto your seats...

Conversion75 CONVERSION, BARNES. 28-22. Very good conversion from Barnes. This game is the Tahs' to lose now. The play-offs race is far from settled!

TRY73 TRY, WARATAHS, BETHAM. 26-23 What a try!!! Foley sends a long flat pass out wide and Betham does brilliantly to jink past a handful of defenders and blitz home.

71 Barnes kicks a penalty into touch on the Brumbies 22m line.

69 A bit of a kicking duel now as both sides look to play in the other half. Folau thumps one into the in-gaol area. Hogg takes the restart quickly...the Tahs are in disarray but Toomua kicks it out on the full.

66 Barnes sends his conversion attempt wide. No one's perfect! The Brumbies lead by one point.

TRY64 TRY, WARATAHS, BARNES. 21-22. What a return to the side from Berrick Barnes!! He finds some space to run and then wriggles past three defenders to roll over and score!

Penalty62 PENALTY, BRUMBIES, MOGG. 16-22. Another long range effort from Mogg gives the visitors a 6-point lead!

Injuries Bad news for the Wallabies: It's been confirmed that Tatafu Polota-Nau has a fractured arm. He could be out of the Lions tour. George Smith is also of with an injury!

Penalty60 PENALTY, BRUMBIES, MOGG. 16-19. Mogg nails his long-range effort. Kuridrani returns to the fray. The Brumbies outscored the Tahs 6-3 during the sin-bin period.

58 Wycliff Palu is penalised for a side entry near half way. Hogg is going to have a shot at goal from 49 metres.

56 It's anyone's game as we approach the final quarter. The Brumbies building patiently in centre field, but progress is slow. They are happy just to keep the ball while they have a man in the bin.

Penalty53 PENALTY, BRUMBIES, MOGG. 16-16. Credit it that to George Smith for getting his hands on the ball before Timani illegally tried to clean him out. Mogg levels the scores from long range.

Penalty51 PENALTY, WARATAHS, BARNES. 16-13. The hosts take the lead for the first time!

Yellow Card50 YELLOW CARD, BRUMBIES, KURIDRANI. The Tahs are camped on the Brumbies line and Steve Walsh reckons the Brumbies centre went too far trying to compete on the deck at the breakdown. It's a harsh call.

Conversion46 CONVERSION, BARNES. 13-13. Game on!

TRY45 TRY, WARATAHS, HOOPER!! 11-13. Berrick Barnes makes his presence felt with a great pass out wide. Michael Hooper has plenty of gas as he bolts down the touchline to score!

43 Barnes hits the POST!! It's a made scramble at the base of the post. Ashley-Cooper grabs it but it's knocked on at the next ruck.

Second half Here we go for round two! The hosts kicks us off. It goes deep. Pat McCabe is offside so the Tahs will have an easy penalty. Berrick Barnes in on and will line it up.

40 That's it for the first half. It's a tight game but the Brumbies are good value for their lead.

38 Bad news for the Waratahs and the Wallabies as Tatafu Polota-Nau is forced off with what looks like a serious arm injury.

TRY35 TRY, BRUMBIES, KURIDRANI. 6-11. The Tahs take an age to get the ball away. Mitchell gets charged down by Tevita Kuridrani and the ball bounces kindly for the Brumbies centre who scores!

33 The ruck is a mess tonight. Some volleyball at the line-out sees the ball come out on the Tahs side. McKibbin dives on it and the Brumbies pile on. Scrum to the Brumbies near half way. White kicks for territory, keeping the Tahs pinned in their own half.

Penalty30 PENALTY, WARATAHS, McKIBBIN. 6-8. Easy penalty for the Tahs scrum-half as the home side cash in on some rare time the Brumbies half.

27 Excellent running lines from the Waratahs sees Drew Mitchell burts clear. George Smith kills it on the deck and the impetus is lost from the attack. But the Tahs are finding a few gaps.

24 Two restarts, two errors from the Waratahs. Off the back of the scrum on the centre spot, Mogg breaks through a tackle from Dave Dennis and races 30m into the Tahs 22. The ball comes wide but Moore throws a forward pass to Alexander and the Tahs are let off the hook.

TRY22 Christian Lealiifano MISSES the conversion. The Brumbies lead by 5.

TRY21 TRY, BRUMBIES, MOWEN. 3-8. Excellent try from the Brumbies after a patient build up. Mowen times his run to perfection as he hits the line at pace and crashes over.

20 The Brumbies swing it wide but Tevita Kuridrani coughs it up in midfield, right under the sticks. Drew Mitchell grabs it and clears.

18 Henry Speight breaks down the right touchline. He chips ahead but it bounces out. The Brumbies drive at the line after the line-out but the ball is stuck at the bottom of a pile of bodies. The Brumbies will feed a 5m scrum.

16 Another set piece penalty, this time against the Brumbies after a knock on at the line-out. Steve Walsh's patience is running out...

14 BIG scrum from the Brumbies this time, marching the Tahs back. Penalty! Nic White finds touch deep in Tahs territory.

13 Rob Horne takes a good break up midfield but is held up by George Smith in the tackle. The ball is stuck, scrum to the Brumbies.

Penalty11 PENALTY, WARATAHS, McKIBBIN. 3-3 Benn Robinson gets the better of Ben Alexander at the first scrum and Brendan McKibbin finds the mark from the centre spot.

Penalty8 PENALTY, BRUMBIES, LEALIIFANO. 0-3. First blood to the visitors as Christian Lealiifano hits the target after the Tahs are penalised for a ruck infringement.

5 The Tahs probe in midfield with a long series of phases but the Brumbies defence holds firm. George Smith picks his moment perfectly to go for the ball and wins the penalty. Matt Toomua sends play into Tahs territory.

3 Some early pressure from the Brumbies but Bernard Foley relieves the pressure with an excellent touch finder.

Kick-off The Brumbies kick us off. It's a terrible start for Kane Douglas, who connects his head with George Smith's shoulder. He's very wobbly on his feet and must go off. The medics have to force him off though as the clearly wants to stay on...

Team news The Waratahs have also made two changes to their XV with wing Drew Mitchell and prop Paddy Ryan starting ahead of Peter Betham and Sekope Kepu respectively.

Team news Brumbies boss Jake White has made two changes to his starting XV. White has bolstered his tight five, promoting Scott Fardy and Scott Sio to starting positions in the second row and at tighthead respectively.

Welcome Hello and welcome to ANZ Stadium in Sydney for our coverage of this crucial Aussie derby. Victory for the Brumbies will put a massive dent in the Tahs' play-off hopes. It's set to be a fierce battle.
