Referee Barnes brings proceedings to a close with a shrill blast on his whistle. The final whistle comes as a relief for Wales, who were never in this game. It was a clinical display from the hosts who were seldom troubled by the tournament''s defending champions. Ireland have laid down their marker for the other teams in the competition and it will take a special effort to halt them.

That's the final act of the half and the teams head into the sheds. As the scoreline suggests, the home side have been dominant. They've had most of the possession and spent most of the half in Wales' half. Wales will have to show serious improvement if they want to claim victory. they've conceded too many penalties and the Irish have made them pay for their errors.

22 Hibbard takes the ball into contact inside Ireland's 22 but Peter O'Mahony does brilliantly when he wins a turnover! Conor Murray clears his line with a kick into touch close to the halfway mark.
20 Wales reshuffle their back-line as Scott Williams leaves the field with an injury. Winger Liam Williams comes on as his replacement which means George North shifts to outside centre.
18 PENALTY, IRELAND, SEXTON! 6-0. Sexton adds another three-pointer after Richard Hibbard is penalised for going off his feet at a ruck.
16 Ireland attack with a maul from their forwards, inside Wales' 22 before Sexton launches a cross-kick for Andrew Trimble to chase. The pivot has over-cooked it and Trimble gathers in touch.
14 There's some concern amongst the Irish as Brian O'Driscoll stays down after taking a huge hit from George North. He receives some medical attention but is soon back on his feet.
11 Ireland go on the drive, just outside their 22 but Lydiate enters the maul from the side, in an effort to halt it and is blown up for his efforts. Sexton puts the resulting penalty into touch on Wales' 10-metre line.

5 Wales attack outside Ireland's 22. Dan Lydiate carries but is knocked back in the tackle by Paul O'Connell! Lydiate holds onto the ball on the ground and the home side are awarded a penalty, which Sexton puts out on Wales' 22-metre line.

1 Jonny Sexton gets underway! Wales fail to gather cleanly but still manage to set up a ruck just outside their 22.
The teams stand to attention while belting out their respective anthems. There's lots of emotion out there amongst both sets of players.
Wales also welcome back a talisman; Sam Warburton reclaims his spot on the openside flank at the expense of Justin Tipuric. Alun Wyn Jones retains the captaincy in a fascinating duel with O'Connell, while Mike Phillips battling fellow British and Irish Lion Conor Murray at scrum-half will be intriguing.
Of course, all the chat has surrounded Brian O'Driscoll in the Irish lineup for his last Six Nations. Paul O'Connell also returns after a chest infection kept him out of Sunday's win over Scotland. Elsewhere, Gordon D'Arcy replaces Luke Marshall at 12.
