Harlequins v Racing Metro - Live

Last updated: 15th December 2013

Full Time Harlequins 17 Racing Metro 3

80 Quins take the ball through several phases with their forwards, just outside their 22 until Karl Dickson boots the ball into touch when the hooter sounds to indicate full-time. Quins are deserved winners and are still on course to reach the play-offs. Racing showed some improvement during the second half but it was not enough. Their play was littered with too many basic errors which meant they hardly troubled their hosts.

78 Racing's extended period of attack comes to nothing when Chavancy knocks on with the try-line beckoning!

78 Racing's extended period of attack comes to nothing when Chavancy knocks on with the try-line beckoning!

76 Racing are trying desperately to score their first try but they are met by a solid wall of defenders close to Quins' try-line!

73 Quins win a turnover and launch a counter-attack! Botica and Walker combine well and they are soon inside Racing's 22 but lose possession when Walker holds onto the ball on the ground.

70 Racing have upped the ante as they try to narrow the gap but once again they fail to benefit from an attack when they commit another handling error up front.

67 Quins are camped close to Racing's try-line but the visitors hold firm in defence. Racing eventually gain a reprieve when Quins are penalised after their forwards go off their feet at a ruck.

64 Racing's front row are penalised for a scrum infringement. Botica kicks for touch and puts the ball out on Quins' 10-metre line.

62 Bernard Le Roux is on off the bench and he immediately makes his presence felt with a fine break, from inside his 22! He offloads to Virgile Lacombe who goes to ground close to the halfway mark.

Penalty60 PENALTY, RACING METRO, SEXTON. 17-3. Sexton finally gets his side off the mark but there's still a lot of catching up to do.

57 Sexton takes the ball into contact but Botica and Nick Easter do well to hold him up and when the maul becomes static Quins get the put-in at the scrum.

55 Racing attack and are soon inside Quins 22. Roberts does well to get them over the advantage line before Gerondeau takes it further. Unfortunately this too reaps little reward as Karim Ghezal knocks on, shortly afterwards.

Penalty53 PENALTY, HARLEQUINS, BOTICA! 17-0. Ben Botica is on the field for Evans and he adds his first three-pointer after Soane Tonga'uiha is pinned for entering a maul from the wrong side.

50 Quins attack off a line-out midway between Racing's 22 and the halfway line. They go on the drive and Wallace controls proceedings from the base while the rest of the forwards power ahead.

47 Brown launches another attack but Chavancy does well to keep him in check. Sexton moves and tries to rip the ball from Brown, who knocks on.

44 Quins have started the second half like they finished the first! Luke Wallace, Ward and Chris Robshaw until Brown knocks on inside Racings' 22 after another blistering run.

41 Sexton gets the second half underway! His kick is a deep, hanging one which George Robson gathers just inside his 22 where he sets up a ruck.

Half Time Harlequins 14 Racing Metro 0

40 Evans misses the conversion and that's also the final acto fthe half as the players head inside to take a break. It's been a half where Quins' have dominated for large periods. They should have a bigger lead as they have had the bulk of the possession and were also camped in Racing's half for most of the half. The visitors defended well for most of the half and were unlucky to concede that late try.

TRY40 TRY, HARLEQUINS, WALKER! 14-0. Charlie Walker gets the ball, just outside Racing's 22, and beats Vakatawa and Dan Lydiate before dotting down!

37 Gerondeau breaks off the back of a scrum and offloads to Fabrice Metz, who is tacled into touch by Evans and Walker.

34 Care launches a box kick just inside Racing's half. Walker gives chase but there's too much on the kick and Hernandez calls a mark inside his 22.

31 Chavancy, Sexton and Jamie Roberts combine well and win several metres for their team. They are soon inside Quins' 22 but it amounts to nothing when Khinchagishvili is penalised for holding onto the ball on the ground.

28 Racing launch a counter attack, from inside their 22. The ball is spun wide to Virimi Vakatawa, who offloads to Henry Chavancy but the referee rules that the pass was forward.

Penalty25 PENALTY, HARLEQUINS, EVANS! 9-0. Evans puts the hosts further in front after another Racing infringement at a ruck.

21 There's some concern in the Quins camp when Evans stays down after taking a big hit from Ducalcon. The New Zealander receives medical attention but eventually gets up and walks back groggily to his position.

19 Quins get a chance to extend their lead, when Luc Ducalcon is pinned for entering a ruck from the side. Evans' effort is off target, however.

16 Evans and Walker combine brilliantly down the right-hand touchline! Walker chips ahead and Evans regathers before the fly-half does the same before touching down for what he thinks is a try. Referee Alain Rolland disallows it out, however, after the Television Match Official rules that Mike Brown knocked on in the build-up.

Yellow Card15 YELLOW CARD, RACING METRO, KHINCHAGISHVILI! Davit Khinchagishvili will spend the next 10 minutes in the sin bin for punching Joe Marler!

Penalty13 PENALTY, HARLEQUINS, EVANS. 6-0. Evans doubles the lead after Racing's front row is pinned for illegal scrummaging.

11 Evans boots the ball upfield and Juan Martn Hernandez fails to gather in front of his try-line. Charlie Walker comes racing through and tries to pounce but the ball rolls over the dead-ball line and Quins get the put-in at the resulting scrum!

Penalty8 PENALTY, HARLEQUINS, EVANS! 3-0. Nick Evans opens the scoring, from the kicking tee, after Adrien Plante is penalised for taking Mike Brown out off the ball.

6 Dave Ward is penalised when he enters a maul from the side on Racing's 22 metre line. Sexton kicks for touch andp uts the ball out midway between Quins' 22 and their 10-metre line.

3 Sexton takes a shot at goal, after Harlequins' forwards are pinned for deliberately collapsing a maul. He strikes the ball well but it's just wide of the mark.

1 Nick Evans gets us underway and Camille Gerondeau gathers, just outside his 22 before hitting the deck.

0 There's a minute's silence for the former South African president Nelson Mandela, who was buried today. Both sides show there respects as the whole ground goes quiet.

0 Racing have made wholesale changes to their team with Jonny Sexton and Mike Phillips teaming up in the halfbacks while fellow British and Irish Lion Dan Lydiate starts on the flank. Full-back Juan Martn Hernndez is the only survivor from the starting line-up that was thrashed last weekend. Welcoming back Jamie Roberts at inside centre though is a significant boost for the Top 14 side, with the Wales international having missed the last three months due to injury.

0 Harlequins have made just one change to their team that beat Racing last weekend. The only change to the starting side which won in Nantes sees Tim Molenaar named at inside centre, replacing Tom Casson, who picked up a knock last week.

0 Hello and welcome to the Twickenham Stoop for this Heineken Cup Pool Four clash between our hosts, Harlequins and Racing Metro. Don't go away! We'll be back shortly with team news.
