From the kick off, the Bulls launch another attack but the soon commit a handling error and the referee blows the final whistle shortly afterwards. The Lions are deserved winners as they were dominant throughout and the Bulls' poor form continues. To their credit, they played until the end and are rewarded with a try-scorign bonus point!
79 TRY, BLUE BULLS, BASSON! 25-24. Wiaan Liebenberg sets off on a run and is soon inside the Lions' 22. He offloads to Basson, who gets in for his second try!
77 The Bulls are awarded a penalty, after the hosts infringe at a ruck but Jantjies' penalty goes over the dead-ball line and they have to trot back all the way to the halfway mark where the penalty was.
74 TRY, BLUE BULLS, VENTER! 35-19. Francois Venter rounds off after Bjorn Basson goes on a mazy run, where he beats six defenders before passing to his centre in front of the Lions' try-line!
72 PENALTY, GOLDEN LIONS, BOSHOFF! 35-14. Marnitz Boshoff lands a 45-metre penalty after Jacques Engelbrecht is pinned for a high tackle on Ross Cronje!
68 The Bulls attack close to the Lions' try-line but all their efforts come to nothing when Jurgen Visser knocks on a pass from Jantjies.
65 Franco van der Merwe is pinned for a ruck infringement and Jantjies puts the resulting penalty out on the Lions' 22.

58 TRY, GOLDEN LIONS, VAN ROOYEN! 25-14. Cronje and Boshoff are both stopped just short of the line and when Jacques van Rooyen spots a gap, he barges over from close quarters!

55 TRY, BLUE BULLS, BASSON! 20-12. Jantjies and Blommetjies combine to put Bjorn Basson into space and the Springbok speedster runs a superb angle, which bamboozles the Lions defence, and rounds off under the posts!
54 The Lions attack close to the halfway line but Francois Venter does well when he wins qa crucial turnover which puts the Bulls onto the attack.
51 Werner Kruger does brilliantly when he rips the ball from a Lions player at a line-out and sets off on a run! He is tackled by Coetzee and the Bulls are then penalised when Frik Kirsten goes off his feet at the resulting ruck. Jantjies kicks for touch and puts the ball out deep inside the Bulls' 22.
48 The Lions are on the attack, close to the Bulls' try-line, but can't breach the defence. Jantjies launches a chip kick but Grant Hattingh beats Volmink and Helberg to the ball and dots down behind his try-line.

45 TRY, GOLDEN LIONS, DREYER! 18-7. Ruan Dreyer runs onto a pass from Cronje close to the Bulls' try-line and powers through two tackles before scoring!
44 The Lions attack from a scrum, just outside the Bulls' 22 and Boshoff joins the line at pace! He is stopped just short of the line by a great tackle from Tony Jantjies.

40 From a scrum just outside their 22, the Lions take the ball wide with their backs. They are soon inside the Bulls' 22 but Cronje knocks on and referee Stuart Berry blows his whistle to indicate half-time. The Lions have been dominant but they will be unhappy that they haven't got a bigger lead. The Bulls are playing catch-up and will have to increase the intensity after the break if they want to win this match.
38 The Lions attack just inside the Bulls half and there's fine interplay between forwards and backs. They lose momentum, however, when Stephen Greeff goes off his feet at ruck.
35 The Bulls are awarded a penalty, after CJ van Der Lindeis pinned for illegal scrummaging, close to the visitors' try-line. Blommetjies kicks for touch and puts the ball out midway between his 22 and the halfway line.
33 YELLOW CARD, BLUE BULLS, T JANTJIES! The Bulls will have to play another 10 minutes with 14 men, after the referee sends off Tony Jantjies for deliberately holding onto a tackled player on the ground close to his try-line.
31 CONVERSION, BLUE BULLS, T JANTJIES! 13-7. Tony Jantjies adds the extras to narrow the gap to six points!
30 TRY, BLUE BULLS, PAIGE! Rudy Paige gathers the ball at a ruck, just outside the Lions' 22, and spots an opening. He makes a dart for the line and despite a desperate tackle, from the cover defence, scores the Bulls' first try!
28 The Lions inside backs launch an attack and create space for Volmink, but the wing commits the cardinal error by taking his eyes off the ball and knocks on.
26 Boshoff sees plenty of space behind the Bulls' flat lying back-line and launches a 45 metre clearance kick which rolls into touch inside the visitors' 22.
24 The Lions are dominating most facets of play. They're running from all areas of the field and the Bulls are battling to keep up.
21 Ross Cronje spots a gap behind the Bulls' defence and launches a box kick inside their 22. Elton Jantjies gives chase and Akona Ndungane gathers but is impeded by Jantjies in the process. Tony Jantjies kicks for touch, from the resulting penalty and puts the ball out 10 metres from the halfway line.
19 YELLOW CARD, BLUE BULLS, BLOMMETJIES! Clayton Blommetjies will spend the next 10 minutes in the sin bin after television replays identifies him as the player who deliberately trips Anthony Volmink.
17 Helberg tries to put his side onto the front-foot with a clearance kick, but his effort is a poor one and sails directly into touch.
15 TRY, GOLDEN LIONS, KRIEL! 13-0. Des Fountain puts Jaco Kriel into space on the Bulls' 10-metre line and the flanker sets off on a blistering run down the touchline. He then beats the cover defence with a deft side-step before scoring the Lions' second try!
14 The Lions are awarded a tap penalty and Coetzee launches a huge up-and-under. Blommetjies is under it and does well to gather despite great pressure from the Lions chasers!
11 The Bulls get a chance to reduce the deficit, after Dylan des Fountain is pinned for going off his feet at a ruck but Tony Jantjies' effort is just wide of the target.
9 PENALTY, GOLDEN LIONS, JANTJIES! 8-0. Jantjies extends the home side's lead after Francois Venter is pinned for being offside.
7 Boshoof comes into the line and makes a telling break, from deep inside his half. He is eventually tackled by Clayton Blommetjies inside the Bulls' 22.
5 TRY, GOLDEN LIONS, COETZEE! Andries Coetzee gathers a long pass from Deon Helberg and beats three defenders before touching down in the right-hand corner!
4 Marnitz Boshoff gets a chance to score the game's opening points, after Jacques du Plessis plays the ball with his hands in a scrum. Boshoff's effort has the legs but is just wide of the mark.
1 Tony Jantjies gets the game underway! His kick is deep but Dereck Minnie secures it and sets up a ruck inside his 22. the ball comes out to Elton Jantjies who kicks for touch and puts the ball out on the halfway mark.
Golden Lions coach Johan Ackermann has made six personnel changes to his team. Ross Cronje will start at scrum-half in place of Tian Meyer while Deon Helberg returns to the starting XV in midfield, replacing the injured Robert de Bruyn. Up front, Ackermann also re-jigged his loose trio, with skipper Derick Minnie moving from flank to number eight in the place of Willie Britz. Jaco Kriel is promoted from the bench are starts on the openside flank while Warwick Tecklenberg moves to the other side of the scrum. In the front row, hooker Robbie Coetzee is promoted to the starting line-up in place of Willie Wepener, while Ruan Dreyer takes over from Bees Roux at tighthead prop. Stephan Greeff replaces Ruan Venter in the second row. On the bench, Chris van Zyl, Lambert Groenewald, Guy Cronj√© and Lionel Cronj√© have all been added to the matchday squad.
The Bulls welcome back Currie Cup record try scorer Bjorn Basson, who returns after a stint with the Springboks. He comes into the side in place of Sampie Mastriet. It is one of four changes to the back-line. Clayton Blommetjies rotates with Jurgen Visser at full-back for his first start of the season, while Ulrich Beyers is fit again and will start ahead of Waylon Murray. At fly-half, Tony Jantjies replaces the injured Handr√® Pollard.
