Stormers v Hurricanes - Live
STORMERS 19-18 HURRICANES
80 Good defence from the Stormers thus far, keeping their discipline. Jane with a leg drive, C.Smith with a dummy. Can the Canes snatch the win here? Savea just avoids the touchline, going to ground. Knocked on though and the Stormers win! A tense finish at Newlands but the hosts stand tall and bounce back from their loss in Johannesburg last weekend to get their season back on track.
80 Fourie with the turnover after the tackle, excellent piece of play. Ten seconds to go, but the Canes win a penalty! Tap and go, Savea in space but he slips as the siren goes. Out of range for a drop goal for now.
78 Groom's box kick is knocked on by Banks, handing the ball back to the hosts. Rhodes shrugs off a tackler and the Stormers kick through leading Barrett to run it from deep. Canes with a long way to go but keeping the ball alive. One minute left.
76 TRY, STORMERS, LIEBENBERG! 19-18: Stormers win a scrum penalty and kick the ball into the corner. Won by Rhodes, thunderous drive and the pack goes over! It's taken a long time but the hosts finally score and now have the conversion to win it through Catrakilis... it's over! The Stormers are in front with time running out.
74 Monster drive from the Stormers, so referee Steve Walsh calls for a reset. Canes pinged for an illegal feed, so the Stormers have a free kick. Vermeulen wants another scrum.
73 Stormers attempting to set up the maul but then the ball is spilled forward, offering the Hurricanes the scrum. Matu'u on for Coles.
72 Pressure on the Hurricanes scrum and the Stormers turn it over. Penalty Stormers, Parkes not rolling away. Flare up in the forwards. Catrakilis is going for the corner.
70 Taute with a dart into the Canes' 22 but the visitors' defence holds, Carr knocking on in the tackle. Time running out for the hosts.
69 PENALTY, HURRICANES, BARRETT! 12-18: And simple it was. Six-point lead restored for the Hurricanes.
68 C.Smith with two attempts at the line but the Stormers' defence holds firm. Nothing coming so we come back for a Hurricanes penalty, and this is a simple kick for Barrett.
66 Promising attack for the Canes as they set up ten metres from the Stormers' line. That ball isn't coming back though, so the visitors have a great platform here to work from.
64 PENALTY, STORMERS, CATRAKILIS! 12-15: Gap cut back to three points as the Stormers work their way back into this game.
62 Taute fields the Canes' clearance kick and the Stormers are on the attack. Vermeulen on the crash ball up to the 22. Into 12 phases as the ball goes loose, but Catrakilis recovers. Penalty Stormers, won at the breakdown. Catrakilis eyes up the posts.
60 PENALTY, HURRICANES, BARRETT! 9-15: Key three points from Barrett just to give the visitors a little breathing space on the scoreboard as we enter the final quarter.
58 Stormers scrum under big pressure, but they do get the ball away. Catrakilis kicks high and it bounces Perenara's way, Barrett then clearing deep. Kicking exchange ends with Carizza being offside, giving the Canes a kickable penalty.
56 Scrum penalty to the Stormers, the Hurricanes collapsing on the engagement. Kicked to touch but Liebenberg's throw is erratic, putting the Canes back on the touch. Loose kick through goes too far and the Stormers can drop out.
55 Hurricanes back on the attack and just reach the 22, but once again a key handling area occurs at the wrong time. Carr did well there for the hosts to force the error.
53 Ball lost by the Canes right under the posts, so Groom clears to touch for the Stormers. Groom now on at nine along with Carr and Liebenberg.
51 Canes attacking well inside the Stormers' 22. Reddish with a strong carry but a mis-communication sees Jane throw a near interception, Aplon unable to gather and knocking on. Scrum ten metres out for the Canes.
49 PENALTY, STORMERS, CATRAKILIS! 9-12: Easy shot and the gap on the scoreboard is cut to three.
48 Hurricanes' scrum well in their own half. Blindside break and Perenara grubbers through. De Villiers to Ntubeni over the halfway line. De Allende brushes off a tackle and makes the space for Van Wyk out wide. Good continuity as the Stormers have an advantage. Nothing coming so we'll have the penalty.
46 Lineout poached by the Canes who clear, but only to Aplon. Wonderful stepping run from the Springbok but then, as so often, there's a handling error at a key moment.
44 Solid enough scrum from the Hurricanes who get the ball away. Penalty to the Stormers at the breakdown, Hurricanes not rolling away. Catrakilis finds touch outside the 22.
42 Lineout won by Carizza, strong drive from Vermeulen. Kitshoff reaches the 22-metre line, but then Fourie knocks on. The rain is starting to fall at Newlands now and that may see an increase in handling errors.
40 Catrakilis begins the second half. Canes clear to put the hosts back in possession just on their side of halfway. Perenara knocks on trying to catch a high kick and the Stormers kick through thanks to de Villiers, Barrett finding touch.
STORMERS 6-12 HURRICANES
40 First half comes to a close as De Villiers passes forward, end to a frustrating half for the hosts who now trail by six points. Second half coming up from Cape Town.
38 TRY, HURRICANES, JANE! 6-12: Thrush carrying the ball over the Stormers 22, promising position for the Canes now. Banks ever so close in the near corner, a second try on the cards here. Wide right across the field with the kick from Parkes to Jane... what a try that might be! The veteran All Black scoops a low catch and momentum carries him over the line for the Canes' second try. From 6-0 down the visitors have turned it around very well at the end of this first half. Barrett misses the conversion.
36 Canes with their tails up as Schreuder is swamped by three Hurricanes at the breakdown, the visitors winning the penalty. Kicked to touch.
34 TRY, HURRICANES, SAVEA! 6-7: And they make it count! Fine grubber kick from Perenara into space down the left and Savea has a simple run in, Barrett converting to give the visitors to lead. Great play by C.Smith in the buildup.
31 Canes knock on during their attacking and then a powerful Stormers scrum gives them enough edge to break away. Stormers applying huge pressure on the scrum but it's the Canes in possession...
29 Super break from Van Wyk but he can't quite get the offload away. They get a second chance though before the Hurricanes win the penalty at the breakdown and clear to touch inside the Stormers half.
27 Stormers enjoying all the possession and territory in the last ten minutes, but they only lead by six. Time is off for an injury to Parkes who looks to have sustained a stinger.
25 Lineout goes to Carizza for the maul but he spills it! Canes clear their lines. The Stormers seal the ball with the next lineout and attack well but then go offside accidentally. Canes clear up to the halfway line.
24 Kicking exchange before De Allende finds some space down the near side. Taute to Ntubeni to Aplon as the Stormers reach ten metres out and then the hosts win another penalty. Posts, scrum or lineout? They opt for the corner.
22 Fine break from Ntubeni who throws a brilliant pass inside to Van Wyk. Could he have passed earlier? Dancing down the right touchline and the winger gives the inside ball but Fourie cannot gather it. Hurricanes then win a penalty at the lineout. Great chance there.
20 PENALTY, STORMERS, CATRAKILIS! 6-0: Simple chip shot for the young number ten. Stormers taking their chances.
19 Eight phases and Taute goes for a poor chip and chase, Stormers coming back for the penalty. Catrakilis eyes up the posts.
17 De Allende over the gain line from the lineout and the Stormers have an advantage. Disrupted by Lam for the Canes clear, but only to Aplon who runs the ball back well into the Canes' 22. Taute combining with De Allende well, Stormers five metres out...
15 Scrum penalty against Kitshoff. Booming kick from Barrett sets up the lineout inside the Stormers half. Quick penalty taken by Perenara looking for Savea but the ball is lost and then the Stormers win the penalty, Schwalger pinged at the ruck.
13 Long kick fielded by Jane, but Banks' clearance to touch isn't a good one. Promising lineout for the Stormers... but it's not straight. Hurricanes' scrum deep in their own half.
11 Poor kick from Aplon hands the Canes another attack, Banks returning the kick. Second kick from Barrett trying to find the corner but Van Wyk clears. Barrett's chip comes off Kolisi but the Canes knock on. Very scrappy. Stormers scrum on the far side in their own half.
10 Canes attacking in the Stormers' half, Savea with the opening break. Another attack though comes to nothing with a knock-on from Franks, very frustrating start for the visitors.
8 PENALTY, STORMERS, CATRAKILIS! 3-0: Right on the edge of his range but Catrakilis gets the kick! Fine strike and the hosts are in front.
7 Excellent rolling maul from the Stormers with Fourie at the base eventually wins a penalty as the Canes go offside. Early shot for Catrakilis.
5 Poor technique at the ruck from Levave and the Canes lose their promising position, Catrakilis finding touch. Tense opening period for the hosts.
4 Stolen lineout by the Canes and a good run from Parkes, attacking the hosts' 22. Ball though isn't coming out of that ruck though and the Stormers survive to win a scrum.
2 Canes showing a little too much ambition as Barrett knocks on. Promising scrum for the Stormers here on the edge of the Stormers' 22. Charge down but the ball fortunately rolls into touch.
1 Kick into the 22 from Perenara is fielded well by Taute as the Stormers clear to touch. Early pressure from the Canes.
0 The Hurricanes are out on the field led by All Blacks centre Conrad Smith. Springbok captain Jean de Villiers is at the front of the line for the home side, wearing the 13 jersey today. Steve Walsh the man in the middle as Beauden Barrett gets us underway!
0 A dry, summer's night in Cape Town as the Stormers look to banish their shocking start to the season from last week in Johannesburg and put it behind them.
0 The 'Canes boast a lethal backline that includes Beauden Barrett, Conrad Smith, Corey Jane and Julian Savea, but may struggle to release them thanks to the powerful Stormers eight.
0 The Stormers draft in the elusive Jaco Taute at full-back as one of only two changes to the side that lost to the Lions. Much rests on the shoulders of pivot Demetri Catrakilis, who did not set the heather alight in Johannesburg, but they have real strength across the all-Springbok back-row, with Argentine Manuel Carizza adding oomph in the engine room.
0 Hello, and welcome to live coverage of Stormers v Hurricanes at Newlands. With the hosts eager to bounce back from a shock defeat to the Lions, and the visitors showing up well during last week's loss to the Sharks, this one should have plenty of bite. Kick off is a little over half an hour away, don't go anywhere!

Phil Edwards explains why England's World Cup dreams will not be over if they lose their next two games
If England are to have any chance of launching a successful assault on the Everest that is next year's World Cup, then the widespread feeling seems to be that they simply have to win their next two games.
Highlights of all the Pro12 action, including Ulster's win over the Ospreys and Treviso's draw with Leinster.
It has been fairly even between Ireland and Australia in the last six meetings, three wins to Australia, two Irish victories and a draw, but recent form comes down in Ireland’s favour, with eight wins from nine contrasting to Australia's three victories in nine.
