Hurricanes v Reds - Live
80 Full Time:The Hurricanes have earned themselves a spot at the top of the NZ log with their performance tonight! Huge credit to their forwards who were exceptional and laid the platform. Jack Lam was one of the stand out players with some cracking runs. The backs were as dangerous as ever and Perenara and Barrett controlled the game well with their tactical kicking being superior to that of the Reds Genia and Cooper. The visitors just made too many errors to be competitive at this level and will have a lot of work to do in order to improve. It looks like the play offs may just be out of reach now for the Queensland team.
80 Another bizarre passage (this match has been full of them). Ball changing possession every 5 seconds, the Reds running it from their own goal and making a break as well! Eventually the ball is knocked on and kicked into touch and brings an extremely entertaining game to an end!
79 PENALTY, CANES, BARRETT, 35-21. Barrett slots a beauty from a far way out!
76 CONVERSION, BARRETT, 32-21. No mistake from Barrett as he converts the try.
75 TRY! CANES, ARDIE SAVEA, 30-21. Ardie Savea gets passed the ball about 10m out and this guy is explosive! No stopping him as he bursts over!
73 Another bizarre passage as the ball changes possession several times followed by a drop goal attempt from Barrett which doesn't come close!
70 Nearly another chance for the Reds! They find some space on the wing through Horwill! He opts for the boot but Vito is back to dot it down as they chase after it! Probably should have kept it in hand!
68 CONVERSION, COOPER, 25-21. No mistake from Cooper to reduce the gap!
67 TRY! REDS, HANSON, 25-19. Cooper switches with Harris to crash it up. They pick and drive and Hanson goes over! The Reds are still very much in this!
66 Replacement Ardie Savea gets to the breakdown quickly but in the process of making the steal has knocked it on. Reds with another chance!
65 They go wide but the Canes rip the ball in the tackle and get themselves taken into touch. reds will have another chance with a line out this time!
64 Reds have won a scrum on the Canes 22m! They need to take advantage here! A score would bring them right back in it!
63 PENALTY, CANES, BARRETT, 25-14. No problem for Barrett!
62 Canes win a penalty after putting great pressure on the Reds after a kick into their 22m. Its straight out in front and Barrett should get it.
58 Barrett not having the best night with the boot as he pushes the conversion well wide!
57 TRY! CANES, JANE, 22-14. AWESOME. That's the only way to describe it! Barrett starts it off with a strong run up the middle where he makes about 15m! From there it was great skill and offloads, especially Coles and finally Savea in the build up to the try. After some quick ball, they go wide and Jane runs in an easy try for his hat-trick!
53 Reds scrum does well this time and they win a penalty! Cooper finds touch to relieve some pressure.
51 Great play from Savea who takes on two men and then offloads in the tackle to create space! They come close to the Reds line before knocking on again! It's all Canes at the moment!
49 The Reds misjudge a kick and the Canes kick through! Genia runs back to collect the ball right by the Reds try line, Savea is after him and tackles Genia as he grabs the ball and knocks it on in the process. Scrum to Reds who under big pressure!
47 CONVERSION, BARRETT, 17-14. This time Barrett slots it to extend the lead to three!
46 TRY! CANES, PERENARA, 15-14. Was bound to happen! A well executed back line move gets them space out wide! They continue to carry strongly and eventually TJ Perenara picks and drives over from close range!
45 Jack Lam with some magical footwork as he breaks the line and surges up the middle! The Canes go wide but some good defense from the Reds win themselves a scrum. They clear from the scrum but don't find much ground. Canes looking so dangerous with ball in hand!
42 Barrett gets us underway for the second half! A bizarre opening passage of play, including moment where Cooper dropped the ball in his own in-goal area...everyone stopped but the ball had gone backward and Cooper eventually cleared. Canes won a penalty around the half way but Barrett misses yet again!
40 The Reds lead as we head into the break! The Hurricanes have definitely played more of the rugby and have looked dangerous with ball in hand! A few silly errors have cost them this half. Credit to the Reds for showing patience on attack which has given Cooper the opportunity to get them ahead. If the Canes can hold onto the ball and keep up the intensity on attack we should see them come through winners tonight!
40 PENALTY, REDS, COOPER, 10-14. Cooper's boot is doing the business as he slots his third penalty of the night! And that's half time!
39 Penalty to the Reds as a Canes player comes around the side of the ruck and is offside. Cooper will have a shot about 10m in from the touch line and just behind the 22m.
37 The Reds give the Canes a bit of a working on defense as they take the ball through many phases. The Canes defense holds well as Cooper struggles to find any gaps. Canes get the ball and clear.
33 Canes go wide again to Jane, but the Reds defense is better this time and Jane knocks on before being bundled into touch!
31 Canes put the Reds under all sorts of pressure at scrum time! Schatz knocks on at the back as the scrum goes backwards! Canes will have an attacking opportunity!
28 PENALTY, REDS, COOPER, 10-11. Same result as last time! Great strike from the Reds pivot!
27 Reds win a penalty within kicking range. Canes penalized for being offside, as Savea was in front of Barrett when he kicked it! Cooper will have another shot from a similar position.
24 Barretts attempt hits the posts! He's getting closer at least.
23 TRY! CANES, JANE, 10-8. And Jane has two! Canes move the ball to the right wing side again and simple slick hands gets Jane in space! Reds need to sort out their defense on the left wing!
21 PENALTY, REDS, COOPER, 5-8. Great strike from Cooper to get the Reds back in front!
20 Reds win a penalty as Victor Vito infringes at the ruck! Cooper will have a shot from about 40m out, pretty much straight in front.
18 Barrett's first attempt also goes wide!
17 TRY! HURRICANES, JANE, 5-5. Opportunity not wasted this time! Some quick footwork from Andre Taylor creates space on the outside as he puts Jane in space to run in a try in the corner! Simple but effective from the Canes!
16 Great attack from the Canes! They attack well with slick offloads in the tackle to gain momentum. A grubber kick through puts the Reds under pressure and they manage to win a penalty. Canes kick for touch to go for the try! They lose the resulting line out and Cooper clears! Another wasted opportunity!
14 The Canes carry the ball strongly again but the Reds defense is good and they win a penalty! Good work from Horwill there! Cooper finds touch on the half way line.
12 Genia finds a big touch kick off the back of the scrum, all the pressure is relieved! Canes will start again.
11 The Canes carry the ball up strongly and come close to the line! A slight knock on at the base of the ruck brings the attack to an end. Wasted opportunity!
10 The Canes win a penalty as Mike Harris joins the ruck illegally! Barrett finds touch on the 22m of the Reds.
8 Cooper's conversion attempt is wide!
7 TRY! REDS, LUCAS, 0-5. Great try from the Reds! Cooper takes the ball right to the line and pops to Beau Robinson on his outside. Robinson goes through and finds Lucas in support on his outside who goes over in the corner!
6 The ball changes possession several times with both sides kicking and having a few knock ons! Eventually the Canes are penalized and Cooper finds a good touch just outside the Canes 22m.
2 The Reds take it through a few phases but can't expose any gaps. Cooper puts the boot to ball which Savea takes well but loses the ball forward in the tackle.
0 Cooper kicks off. Taken by Leiua, the 'Canes working the ball until Barrett clears to touch.
0 Shots of All Blacks coach Steve Hansen in the crowd as the crowds applaud. Time for kickoff and we couldn't ask for better conditions, a touch of dew on the ground but a fine surface.
0 James Horwill leads out the Reds on his 100th appearance, as we mark the anniversary of ANZAC day with a rendition of the Last Post.
0 Hurricanes news: Hammett has named an almost identical team to that which beat the Blues 39-20 last week, with Ben Franks the only change as he makes a return from injury. This weekend's Anzac match will also be a special one for starting full-back, Andre Taylor. The 26-year-old will bring up 50 matches for the club, and says it's an achievement he can't wait to celebrate.
0 Welcome to Westpac Stadium in Wellington for our coverage of this round 14 Super Rugby clash! This game is a big one for both teams with the Reds needing a win to stay in the mix and the Hurricanes with the chance of going to the top of the NZ conference!

While Europe were busy demolishing the USA in the Ryder Cup, there was rugby from all four corners of the globe to get stuck into over the weekend.
South Africa should have the better of Australia up front but they must not allow the backs any time or space, says Thinus Delport.
There was loads of great rugby to enjoy over the weekend including some PRO12 upsets and some controversial refereeing.
