Rebels v Waratahs - Live
80 REBELS 19-41 WARATAHS
80 Time nearly up in Melbourne as Hoiles takes the restart. Kicked to the Rebels but once more the Tahs are in possession. Chip over the top from Beale for Folau but he's blocked off and the Rebels have possession. Time up, the ball goes out and that'll be that. Another heavy bonus point win for the Tahs, six tries score, job done away from home.
78 TRY, WARATAHS, MCKIBBIN! 19-41: Good attack from Folau as he cuts through the space, but he can't get the pass away to Alofa. Tahs just short and McKibbin dives over! Good recycling and the replacement is there to touch down for the sixth try. Beale misses the conversion.
77 Rebels on the attack now but that's good counter-rucking from the Tahs, winning the penalty. Deep kick into touch from Beale.
75 Long lineout taken as Horne cuts infield. Loose ball and the Rebels get the penalty.
73 Still time for another as the Tahs have a scrum deep in their own half. McMahon penalised for not releasing and Beale kicks to touch.
71 TRY, WARATAHS, FOLAU! 19-36: Stunning break from Ashley-Cooper and Folau as the Tahs queue up for the try. Finally Folau scores! That's the joint-record for the full-back as Folau shrugs off English and gets the try. Beale shanks the conversion.
70 Scrum penalty to the Tahs - Rebels front row collapsing. Chance for the visitors to move upfield and target another try.
68 Huge frustration as the lineout isn't straight from Leafa. Tahs scrum.
67 Rebels back to down by 12 but with time running out. They do have a penalty though, 40 metres out and central. Hegarty kicks into the corner.
65 TRY, WARATAHS, BEALE! 19-31: Try given! Pass to Foley isn't forward and Beale runs it in untouched for the bonus point to the delight of coach Michael Cheika. Easy conversion for Foley.
64 Stolen lineout by Douglas and the Tahs are over halfway. Folau trying to get around the outside. Loose ball scooped up by Phipps, onto Foley who passes to Beale! Has he scored? TMO ruling...
62 Hooper penalised with the Tahs applying pressure on the 22. Chance for the Rebels to relieve some pressure. They have a lineout on halfway.
59 TRY, REBELS, VEAINU! 19-24: Hands in the ruck from the Rebels after Folau takes a high catch. Kicked to touch by Foley. Good quick hands from all the Tahs as they breach the 22. Shocking pass from Folau goes behind his team-mates and Veainu goes coast to coast to score! Breakaway try and the Rebels are back in it. Woodward converts.
57 Kick returned by Woodward but Palu bundles him into touch. Rebels chasing the game now.
55 TRY, WARATAHS, HOOPER! 12-24: Something out of nothing for the Tahs! Leafa can't strike the ball in the scrum and it comes out for Hooper to scoop up and score the third try for the Waratahs. Foley misses again.
53 Clever change of direction from Phipps as Folau and Foley try to work space for Alofa, but the ball goes forward. Waratahs look dangerous.
51 Scrum penalty to the Tahs, Foley kicks up to the 22. Sense that the visitors are gearing up for a suckerpunch score here.
50 Kick from Woodward trickles deep out of the endzone, so the Tahs have a scrum on halfway. Good position.
48 PENALTY, WARATAHS, FOLEY! 12-19: No change of goalkicker for the Tahs despite Foley's troubles in the first half. No problems this time.
47 Tahs back on the attack, wide pass from Beale putting men into space. Deep into the 22, advantage played. Can the Tahs get their third try? Not this time, penalty.
45 PENALTY, REBELS, WOODWARD! 12-16: Lead is cut to four points as Woodward guides it through.
44 Scrum penalty to the Rebels! Down to 14 men and they win a penalty upfront. Woodward going for goal.
42 Early attack for the Rebels as Hegarty makes a small burst. At the 22 but without clean ball. Higginbotham makes space for Kingston, Rebels now five out. Accidental obstruction stops the attack, scrum to the Tahs.
40 Woodward begins the second half with his team trailing.
40 REBELS 9-16 WARATAHS
40 Shocking miss from Foley as he hits the upright from right in front - promising passage from the Tahs ending with nothing. Good contest with the Rebels containing the Tahs at the breakdown so far, but the visitors have too much class at the moment to be held out forever. They lead by seven.
40 YELLOW CARD, REBELS, LEAFA! ...Folau breaking tackles inside the 22. Penalty, time off and that's a yellow card for Leafa!
39 Box kick over the top from Meehan puts the Tahs back deep in their own half with a minute to go. Taken by Dennis at the front, short ball to Hooper. Tahs still full of running. Turned over by the Rebels as the hooter sounds. Lost, Tahs breaking out..
37 TRY, WARATAHS, ASHLEY-COOPER! 9-16: Tahs under pressure but work the ball away from the lineout. Straight running from Foley, finds Folau on his inside. Ball comes left and Beale draws the final man to release Ashley-Cooper for the score! Smart team try. Foley misses the conversion.
35 Penalty Tahs on the halfway line as the Rebels go off their feet. Foley kicks into touch in the 22.
33 Attempt from Woodward drops short and the Tah counter, Foley chipping over the top but Beale can't regather it. Scrappy passage ends with the Rebels finding touch outside the Tahs 22.
31 Tahs scrum in their own half. Foley clears long, return kick from Veainu finding touch. Long lineout from the Tahs as Hooper carries to halfway. Rebels slowing things down and win a penalty for holding on on the halfway line. Alo-Emile with the patst on the back. 51-metre attempt from Woodward.
29 PENALTY, WARATAHS, FOLEY! 9-11: Over it goes from the Wallaby number ten and the visitors lead once more.
28 Rebels a bit too clever in their 22 as Meehan's short pass flies into touch. Tahs win the lineout and are in the 22. Penalty, Faingaa illegally joining the ruck. Simple chance for Foley.
26 PENALTY, REBELS, WOODWARD! 9-8: On song again and somehow the Rebels lead! Right against the run of play.
25 Veainu into space down the right and his inside ball has the Rebels away! Beale comes in and block's English last pass, no effort made, so the Rebels have a penalty. Woodward again lines up a shot.
24 PENALTY, REBELS, WOODWARD! 6-8: Guided through and despite only 30 percent possession the Rebels only trail by two points.
22 Lineout won and the Rebels attack over halfway. 40 metres out now, flinging the ball wide looking for space. Advantage, right in front and Woodward will go for goal.
20 Creaking scrum but somehow the Tahs get it away. Good run from Folau and his lofted pass puts Foley into some space. On his own though and the Rebels win the penalty, Tahs off their feet.
18 ...but the ball squirts loose! Tahs recover right on top of the line now. Poor pass but the Tahs keep it alive, Foley dumming and takes a high tackle. Penalty, kicked to the corner. From the lineout the Rebels shut off possession and win a scrum.
17 Ferocious defence from the Tahs wins them possession, a loose pass eventually hacked on into touch deep in the Tahs 22. Overthrow at the lineout and the Tahs are five metres out...
15 PENALTY, REBELS, WOODWARD! 3-8: Long-range strike from the full-back and it's a good one! Rebels are on the board.
13 Knocked on by Potgieter so the Rebels have the scrum their side of halfway. Penalty, good work from Alo-Emile and Woodward is lining up a shot.
11 TRY, WARATAHS, HORNE! 0-8: A set-piece stunner from the Tahs! Penalty at the scrum, kicked to touch. From the lineout Foley dummies to Beale and hits Horne on the switch with the winger racing away to score, fending off Woodward to go over. Foley's conversion drifts wide.
10 Lineout won by Higginbotham at the front. Ripped and the Tahs break out, but Alofa's pass is tapped by a Rebels hands and goes forward. Folau would have been away there - scrum Tahs.
8 Cleared long by Foley as Woodward brings it back. Alofa offside so from the penalty Hegarty kicks into the 22.
7 PENALTY, WARATAHS, FOLEY! 0-3: Ominous start for the Rebels as Foley knocks over three points.
6 Solid scrum and Meehan clears with a box kick on his first start. Tahs up to the 22 already but that's good defence from English, only for the Rebels to spill it! Advantage, Tahs out wide to Horne who scored twice last week. Nothing coming so we come back for the kick, Foley this time to take it.
4 Beautiful inside ball from Foley to Beale puts the Tahs on the front foot. Into the 22 and Foley breaks down the outside but is hauled down just short and loses the ball forward. Great pace and depth from the 'Tahs early on, breathless stuff. Scrum Rebels five from their own line.
2 Beale takes over the kicking duties with Foley taking a knock in the build-up, and he hits the right post! No score so far.
1 Foley gets us started and what a start, Folau rising high to win possession and the 'Tahs are on the attack. Penalty NSW and Foley will take an early shot, big hit by Inman on Folau before it was awarded.
A fine night in Melbourne with no rain to worry about, it's time to get underway.
Late changes for the Rebels. Tamati Ellison out (knee). Tom English to 13, Telusa Veainu to wing, Lalakai Foketi to bench.
Rebels head coach Tony McGahan has made two enforced changes to his starting XV. Rookie scrum-half Ben Meehan replaces the injured Luke Burgess in the starting line-up, with former Waratah Josh Holmes joining the Rebels' matchday squad for the first time after signing for the club a fortnight ago. Prop Laurie Weeks misses with a minor ankle injury, allowing Paul Alo-Emile to slot into the starting line-up with Max Lahiff added to the bench.
The Waratahs have made two changes to their starting line-up. Abrasive lock Jacques Potgieter returns to the tight five, whilst Alofa Alofa is named to start on the wing.
Good day and welcome to AAMI Park in Melbourne for our live coverage of this Australian Super Rugby derby between the Rebels and the Waratahs. We'll be back soon with team news.
