Hurricanes v Chiefs - Live
80 Just to rub salt into the wound, the Canes win a scrum penalty to finish the game off! What an incredible victory for the Wellington men!
79 It's been given as a forward pass. Savea doesn't get his hat-trick! Chiefs will have a scrum on the 22m.
79 Brilliant team play as they Canes offload and keep the ball alive through the length of the field! Eventually Savea gets it in space and goes over for his hat-trick! The ref is checking with the TMO regarding the final pass to Savea which looked forward in real time...
77 The Chiefs are on attack now in the Canes 22m as they try get some consolation points. They spill the again and the Canes begin a counter attack!
73 CONVERSION, BARRETT, 45-8. This man can't miss tonight! Another great kick from Barrett!
72 TRY! CANES, SHIELDS, 43-8. Brilliant play from the Canes! Vito burst from the back of the scrum and flicked it out the back of the hand back into Brad Shields who had the try line in front of him!
70 The Chiefs continue to lose possession in good attacking situations as the Canes get the ball and start to attack! Barrett tries an ambitious cross-kick for Savea but Squire is back. He knocks on and the Canes will have an attacking scrum 5m out!
66 The Chiefs get a rare second half chance as Squire makes a break! The ball goes wide but Anscombe is just taken into touch as he tries to get it down in the corner!
64 CONVERSION, BARRETT, 38-8. Barrett continues his sensational form with the boot!
63 TRY! CANES, LAM, 36-8. Jack Lam crashes over from close range to get his sides fifth try!
62 The Canes attack with patience through many phases. Eventually they crash over! Ref having a look with the TMO to see the grounding!
60 YELLOW CARD, CHIEFS, RETALLICK. Brodie Retallick concedes a penalty right on his line and now he has been given his marching orders!
59 Nope they've gone for the line out in an attempt to get another try!
58 Canes have won a penalty whilst on attack! With the man down they'll use up some time and go for the 3 points!
55 The Chiefs have blown an opportunity and have been penalized! Canes are ecstatic as they clear out of trouble!
54 YELLOW CARD, CANES, GOODES. Reggies Goodes unfortunately got in the way of a pass as he was retreating and has been sent to the bin!
53 The Chiefs come close with Ben Tameifuna carrying the ball strongly. The ref is having a look with the TMO to see if a Canes player was interfering in an offside position.
52 CONVERSION, BARRETT, 31-8. Barrett continues his good kicking form!
51 TRY! CANES, SAVEA, 29-8. Magnificent! A beautiful set-piece move puts Jane in space who comes around from the opposite wing! Jane draws the man and passes to a flying Savea who cruises in for his second.
47 PENALTY, CANES, BARRETT, 24-8. No problems for Barrett who increases his teams tally!
46 After a couple of line out attempts, the Canes go wide and 12 Alapati Leiua offlaods well to Conrad Smith but is brought up short. The Chiefs under loads of pressure concede a penalty and this time opt for three points.
43 The Canes kick for touch instead of going for the three points! Will surely look to try drive this one over!
42 Andre Taylor has suffered a nasty injury and is being stretchered off. Quite a big delay in play.
42 Anscombe resumes the match! The Canes get an early chance as Barrett collects a kick and flings it in field out the back of the hand but does not find a team mate. The Canes win a penalty in kicking range.
Hurricanes 21 - 8 Chiefs
41 Another great half of rugby in New Zealand! The Chiefs definitely had more ball to play with and at times camped in the Canes half but unfortunately small errors on attack prevented them from scoring more than the single try! The Canes when on attack finished off their opportunities cleanly and have deserved their 13 point lead at half time!
40 The Canes think about running it from their own half but eventually kick it out to end the half!
37 Another soft error from the visitors as the throw wasn't straight. The Canes win a penalty from the resulting scrum and now have an easy opportunity to get out of trouble!
36 Chiefs turnover possession after the scrum and attack out wide! The Canes defend but infringe in the process and concede a penalty. They opt for the line out 5m from the try line!
34 The Chiefs attack well again after Charlie Ngatai makes a half break! They lose the ball again in opposition 22m and the Canes have a scrum deep in their half!
30 CONVERSION, BARRETT, 21-8. Barrett makes no mistake with the simple conversion!
29 TRY! CANES, SAVEA, 19-8. Too easy for the Canes really! 12 Alapati Leiua makes a clean break up the left wing! Savea is there in support and it's a simple draw and pass!
25 Chiefs lose the ball again whilst on attack in the Canes 22m. The home side win a penalty and manage to clear out of trouble.
23 Barrett does brilliantly to chip kick a loose ball, whilst the Chiefs are on attack, to Jane who finds himself in loads of space on the wing! He doesn't find support and is caught holding on when he eventually is brought to ground in the Chiefs 22m.
21 CONVERSION, BARRETT, 14-8. Great strike to add the extras!
20 TRY! CANES, FRANKS, 12-8. Beautiful rugby! The Canes go wide and show great skill to offload in the tackle as Taylor, Jane and Barrett combine well out wide! The Canes get plenty of support and swing it wide to Ben Franks who strolls over!
18 The Chiefs attack is brought to an end as they spill the ball around the ruck area. The Canes' will have a chance to run it now. Momentum has definitely been with the Chiefs who've had the majority of possession and territory.
16 Anscombe's kick is unsuccessful! The kicking will definitely be a factor tonight in tricky conditions!
14 TRY! CHIEFS, SQUIRE, 7-8. Chiefs showing why they are the current champions with a well worked try! The visitors showed great patience in their build up and eventually went wide and showed great skill to get the pass away to the replacement Liam Squire on the wing.
12 After the Canes get themselves out of trouble, Nanai-Williams sends them straight back to their own 22m as he puts in a great kick which goes out inside the home sides 22m!
10 Great play from the Chiefs who take full advantage of a scrum in the midfield and carry the ball up strongly! They show some ridiculous skill to keep the ball alive and are eventually held up just short! Ben Tameifuna unfortunately spills the ball close to the line!
5 CONVERSION, BARRETT, 7-3. Barrett, the leading points scorer of the competition this year, adds to his large tally with a successful kick!
4 TRY! CANES, TAYLOR, 5-3. Canes strike back! Not great defense by the Chiefs as Savea easily saunters up the midfield unmarked! He rides a good tackle from Nanai-Williams and offloads to a supporting Andre Taylor who has the pace to go over in the corner!
3 PENALTY, CHIEFS, ANSCOMBE, 0-3. Gareth Anscombe slots his first kick in windy conditions! Great strike!
2 Beauden Barrett gets us underway! The Canes manage to win it back and have first possession as they attack. The Chiefs turn it over and then win a penalty in the Canes half. A chance to get the first points on the board for Anscombe.
Hurricanes news: Hurricanes flanker Jack Lam will play his 50th match for the Wellington-based side when they host the Chiefs tonight. Lam said clocking up a win on his 50th match would not only be an achievement for him, but the Hurricanes club as a whole. Hooker Dane Coles comes back in to the Hurricanes' starting line-up after a week's injury break, while fly-half Beauden Barrett has recovered well from a hip injury and is expected to start against the Chiefs. Should Ash Dixon be deemed unfit tonight, Reggie Goodes will provide cover at hooker, and Mike Kainga will suit up for the first time as a Hurricane.
Chiefs news: Chiefs boss Dave Rennie has made three changes to his starting XV for tonight's clash with the Hurricanes in Wellington. In the back-line, Asaeli Tikoirotuma and Charlie Ngatai returning from injury to take their place on the left wing and at outside centre respectively. Tim Nanai-Williams who has recommitted to the Chiefs for the 2015 season returns to full-back. Kane Thompson comes into the reserves and is joined by Aaron Cruden who makes his return to rugby after a thumb injury, with the addition of Tom Marshall, the only other change to the Chiefs bench.

I watched Bath v Saracens last Friday and was very impressed with George Ford and how well he controlled that game for Bath. I would love to see him play a big role in the autumn internationals and I hope Stuart Lancaster starts him for at least two of the four Tests.
