Western Force v Reds - Live

Last updated: 5th July 2014

Full Time80 FORCE 30-20 REDS

80 Yet another Reds penalty as Harris kicks into the corner. Can the Reds get something out of this one? The hooter sounds as they catch and drive. Horrible pass from Lucas and that will be that - the Force stay alive in their hunt for the playoffs with one more round to go. They're in contention - a rousing send off for Nick Cummins on his final home game.

77 Force hunting that bonus point try now with a lineout in the Reds half. Penalty Reds, at the breakdown. They'll kick to touch.

TRY74 TRY, FORCE, CHARLES! 30-20: Hodgson wins the lineout ball before Stander charges up the middle into the Reds half. Run for Charles! The hooker flies into space off the inside ball who scores try number three. Hayward converts.

73 Long lineout from the Reds who go long, under pressure at the ruck. Blitz defence holding the Reds back but the kick over the top bounces well into the Force 22.

Penalty71 PENALTY, FORCE, HAYWARD! 23-20: No problem for the full-back and the tension continues. Are those the winning points?

69 Don't speak too soon. Wykes is there to win the Force a ruck penalty this time right in front of the posts on the 22. Hayward stepping up.

Penalty67 PENALTY, REDS, HARRIS! 20-20: We're all square! Breakdown penalty for the Reds and Harris lands it to tie things up. Going down to the wire in Perth.

65 Reset scrums but the Force now get the lineout on the far side. Aimless kicking their enemy and that's an overthrow for the Reds to counter. Tapuai and Harris at speed but the full-back looks outside for Turner who isn't there! Force lineout.

63 Shoddy kick from Prior goes off the side of the boot, the Force still under pressure. Reds on the attack but that's a woeful pass and the knock on is inevitable. Force scrum.

61 Contest unravelling as Kerevi again breaks the line! Loses the ball trying to offload and then a Force player is checked off the ball while clearing. TMO having a look.

TRY59 TRY, REDS, ANAE! 20-17: Game on! Maul doesn't start too well for the Reds but there's the momentum as Anae gets over with some assistance from Davies of all people. Played so poorly the Reds and now only behind by three as Harris converts.

57 Brache very groggy as he departs with a cut to the head. Force defending but then penalised for obstruction, Reds in a good position. Into the corner they go.

55 Kerevi is everywhere for the Reds, making breaks and putting the Force defence right under pressure as the reach the 22. Knocked on by Browning, Force scrum.

52 Force continue to frustrate at the breakdown but Hayward has a howler, knocking on the grubber kick from Lucas to give the Reds a scrum in the 22.

Penalty49 PENALTY, FORCE, HAYWARD! 20-10: Penalty Force again in the Reds 22, surely Hayward can't miss this one as well. Offence was a high tackle and with a chip shot Hayward... scores! Third time lucky and that's the first points of the half.

47 Scrappy passage as Brache's pass to Cummins floats forward. From the scrum Kerevi makes another bust up the middle, Reds enjoying some possession and territory. Hodgson with the turnover and Hayward kicks long. Back with the Force who win a penalty outside the 22. He's missed that one too! Another let off for the Reds.

44 Debut for Gale as he replaces Frisby. Penalty to the Force and Hayward lines up the posts... but it's away to the right.

42 Force on the charge through Steenkamp but Brache knocks on in the tackle, Reds survive. Scrum in their 22.

40 Second half underway - the Force have to win to make the playoffs.

Half Time40 FORCE 17-10 REDS

40 No gain from either side as we head in for the break, the Reds surprisingly only down by seven considering their performance. Force needs a bonus point win to be in the playoff hunt next week. Second half coming up.

38 Reds giving it a bit of pace as Harris taps a penalty, getting over halfway. Slipper knocks on though, Force scrum on halfway.

TRY36 TRY, REDS, KEREVI! 17-10: Reds get a break as Kerevi makes ground, winning the penalty and Harris kicks to the corner. Catch and drive, sucking in the Force defenders and Kerevi is there to score! Nice run from the youngster for his first Super Rugby try. Very poor tackle attempt. Harris converts.

33 Smart grubber through from Holmes gets the Force in behind the Reds defence. Danger averted momentarily but Frisby is under pressure from Cummins close to the touchline. Reds can't keep the Force out but that's a poor kick, Harris finally finding touch.

31 Monster double tackle on Holmes from Simmons and Harris and the Reds get a scrum. They need to score next.

Yellow Card29 YELLOW CARD, FORCE, MCMENIMAN! Dangerous play there from McMeniman as he needlessly drops a knee into Lucas while on the deck. Force down to 14.

28 Force up to five metres out - loose ball snapped up by Cummins. Penalty to the Reds right under their own posts. Lucas down, TMO checking for foul play.

25 All the pressure come from the Force as Prior tries to kick to the corner, forcing Turner to knock on. Scrum blue on the edge of the 22. Reds in trouble.

22 No joy from that passage for the Reds as the Force are back on the attack. Kicked through buy Harris is there to combine with Frisby to clear the danger.

20 Reds flailing now as Horwill goes off with a blood injury. Force lineout on halfway. Reds get a penalty and boot it into the corner.

TRY18 TRY, FORCE, MCCALMAN! 17-3: Try given! Super hands from Tuatara-Morrison and Cummins as the Reds defence is poor. Wykes does well and sets up the charge for McCalman to go over. Hayward converts.

17 Reds scrum under pressure as the struggle goes on for the visitors. Kerevi looks lively but can't get the offload away, handing possession back to the hosts. Amazing hands from the whole of the Force backline as Wykes steps and McCalman looks to have scored! TMO checking.

Penalty15 PENALTY, FORCE, HAYWARD! 10-3: Good strike and the Force now have a commanding lead.

14 Force in full flow now as they get another advantage. Referee speaks to Horwill as the Force take the penalty. Hayward going for the posts.

TRY10 TRY, FORCE, CUMMINS! 7-3: Much better from the Force as the power into the Reds 22. Advantage played as the Force are just two metres out. Number out wide by Hayward goes himself, has to go wide. Second time they do and Cummins is there! Super finish from the talisman and the Force go into the lead. Hayward converts.

Penalty8 PENALTY, REDS, HARRIS! 3-0: Over from Harris as he strikes the ball from the 22, visitors ahead.

7 Solid scrum and here come the Reds. Penalty, Longbottom coming into the ruck from the side so Harris has a simple shot at goal.

5 Drilled into the 22 as the Reds get good territory through Lucas. Lineout won but the Reds force the turnover at the ruck and have another scrum - wide on the right. Good position.

4 Simmons wins the lineout and the clearance kick is fumbled by Haylett-Petty, under good pressure from Robinson. Reds scrum on halfway.

2 Reds clear to touch and here come the Force for the first time. Over the ten metre line, kick stabbed through by Prior to pin the Reds back.

0 Holmes starts the proceedings in Perth! Reds playing wide in their 22. Tussle at the breakdown and under pressure they get the scrum.

0 Rousing reception for both sides as the weather holds firm - clouds in the horizon but no rain and a dry turf.

0 Reds centre Samu Kerevi will make his run-on debut in one of three changes to the starting team. Ben Daley returns to the starting lineup at loosehead prop, with James Slipper shifting to tighthead. Lachie Turner will start on the wing.

0 The Force welcome back Nick Cummins to take on the Reds in Perth. The Western Australians bring Cummins back on to the left wing after he missed last weekend's match with a neck complaint suffered during the Wallabies' three-Test series against France. Cummins will man the wings with Dane Haylett-Petty, while Jayden Hayward completes the back three. The Force will feature a new half-back pairing of Ian Prior and Zack Holmes. Wilhelm Steenkamp replaces Adam Coleman at lock, while prop Pek Cowan will become the third most-capped player in the club's history.
