England captain Steve Borthwick has turned up the heat ahead of the Calcutta Cup showdown at Murrayfield by claiming the opinions of Scotland coach Andy Robinson "don't matter".

Robinson started the mind games ahead of the RBS Six Nations clash by calling for referee Marius Jonker to watch out for England's illegal American Football-style blocking tactics.

Robinson has claimed England's dummy runners take out defenders to clear spaces for the ball-carrier.

However Borthwick, who played under Robinson for Bath and England, has rubbished the suggestions - and insisted the only opinion he is interested in is that of the referee.

"No referee has spoken to me about it. We train within the laws of the game and we play within the laws of the game," said Borthwick.

"Marius Jonker is the referee this weekend. He did the corresponding fixture at Twickenham last year and the game against Australia in the autumn.

"What matters is not Andy Robinson's opinion or my opinion but Marius Jonker's opinion."

England have made just two changes for the match, with Simon Shaw missing out through injury and Lewis Moody dropping to the bench.

Louis Deacon comes in for Shaw, with Courtney Lawes promoted to the bench, while Joe Worsley gets the nod ahead of Moody.

Steve Thompson is also named among the replacements, while Ben Foden will continue to provide cover for Delon Armitage after the Exiles ace passed a fitness test.

Disappointed

Scotland have made just the one change for the match - with Nick De Luca coming in for Simon Danielli.

De Luca, who makes his first start in 18 months, will start at outside centre with Max Evans shuffling across to the wing.

And having lost all three matches of the championship so far, Scotland go into the match in danger of picking up the wooden spoon.

However hooker Ross Ford insists the side that bounce back against England.

"We're very disappointed ourselves in the results that have come about," said Ford.

"A lot of it is to do with our execution on the pitch. We've got to tidy that up and get the detail right.

"It's good to know the people around you, know how they work.

"I think we're getting back to that area where we're pretty comfortable in what we're trying to do and we're confident that we can achieve positive outcomes now."
