Wales No.8 Gareth Delve will skipper the Rebels against the Highlanders after Stirling Mortlock was ruled out of Friday's match.

Delve was handed the vice-captaincy at the start of the season, but with Mortlock having strained a hip in training, the former Gloucester man will lead the side out at AAMI Park.

Fit-again James Hilgendorf is called into the side to wear the No.12 shirt, with the Rebels making a number of changes.

Rod Blake, Cooper Vuna and Richard Kingi all come into the side, with Mark Gerrard moving to outside centre and Lachlan Mitchell shifting to the wing.

The Highlanders will hand Aaron Smith his first start of the season in the only change to their line-up.

Smith gets the nod ahead of the bench All Black Jimmy Cowan following the 24-12 victory over the Cheetahs last time out.
