South Africa winger Bryan Habana has been named in the centres by the Stormers for the Super Rugby clash against the Hurricanes on Saturday.

With Juan de Jongh sidelined, Habana has impressed in his new role during the trial games and will now go up against experienced All Black Conrad Smith at Newlands.

Habana's switch to the midfield means Gerhard van den Heever will make his Stormers debut on the wing, while Joe Pietersen starts at full-back.

With Peter Grant still in Japan, Gary van Aswegen will marshal the backline, while there is also a start for former Springboks Under-20s lock Eben Etzebeth.

Three players will make their debuts for the Hurricanes - with Tim Bateman, Tristan Moran and Ben May coming into the starting XV.

Bateman will partner captain Smith in the centres, will Moran and May will form a new-look front-row alongside hooker Dane Coles.

There are a further four new-boys on the bench as Motu Matu'u, Jeffery Toomaga-Allen, Brad Shields and TJ Perenara look to make their first appearances for the club.
