Scotland coach Dean Ryan looks ahead to Saturday's clash with Italy
Scotland forwards coach Dean Ryan is hoping his side have learned lessons ahead of Saturday's clash with Italy at Murrayfield.
The Scots were well-beaten 38-18 by England in their Six Nations opener - and play host to Italian visitors buoyed by a momentous 23-18 victory over pre-tournament favourites France.
But Ryan said: "Some of the disappointments around the squad are things we can't necessarily solve until tomorrow.
"We can't play live situations during a test week. We were poor around collisions, we were poor around tackle contests and we were poor emotionally recognising that.
"That's a fundamental of the game. We are trying to make this squad understand that's the first thing you get right.
"Although we have spoken about it, we can't necessarily practice it. You can't do that Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday because you wouldn't be in the shape to play in a Test match. But we are well aware of it through the conversations we have had.
"Given the ingredients - we were well beaten in that area last week, Italy winning, we are back at Murrayfield, it's been a topic of conversation - I'll be pretty disappointed if we don't see a response."
